The Mallon Crew

A thoroughly worthwhile and well researched book, interesting on so many levels. Anyone with an interest in Bomber Command and its aircrews will find this a good read as will anyone who is conducting their own research into a family member's wartime experiences. Mr Jay writes in a thoroughly accessible but authoritative way that never loses sight of the human aspect to this story. I can definitely recommend it.

A book about Heroes. Not the gung ho individualistic action man type of hero but ordinary men from opposite ends of the earth who depended on each other's unique skills to survive the horrors of aerial warfare. Their dog tags were made of fireproof material for a good reason! A fascinating and very moving read made even more moving for me by the number of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that were the result of the Mallon Crews survival.
