Very difficult to see print and pictures, frustrating to read
I can't recommend this book. I feel like this book was thrown together, without proofreading, with previously copied parts to save money, just to print another book to generate some revenue. I wanted to keep this book but, it was immediately so difficult to read with either defective printing process or the print was light gray; some of the print was on colored background which made it even more difficult to read. I even tried contacting the author and the publisher to see if this was a defective printing or if the print was actually gray print but, got no response. There were some instructional pictures that were so tiny that you couldn't see what to do. There were some instructional pictures that were done in with white fabric, white thread, white batting that you couldn't see what they were doing. There were some techniques that were just a mention with general instructions where you would have to do your own research to find out how to do it. There are a lot of the general instructions and pictures copied from her previous books. There were references to instructions that you had to flip to in another part of the book, some instructions didn't make sense, and after trying to make out the print and flip back and forth to understand the instructions, I was so frustrated that I just gave up. After seeing this book, I would be very hesitant to purchase another book from this author or this publisher for reasons noted above.

The best quilt as you go book , with one flaw
I’m going to focus on one major negative but please don’t let that convince you not to buy. This book is far better than any of the others. Definitely one for your craft room. The one flaw, that is a pet peeve of mine is: the author uses quilting abbreviations throughout the book for every pattern. Not too big an issue, however no glossary was given. Anyone new to quilting will need to know the following:WOFSARSTWSTERWidth of fabric. Seam allowance, right sides, Wrong sides together. ER , I have no clue what it is and I would have to cut for of them for first project 🙄 so I’m gonna have to google it.It is such a small thing but I find it annoying when craft books don’t write out the terminology or at the very least give a glossary of terms. I’m just coming back to quilting/sewing and I don’t hang out with others that use the terminology. With all that said , the book is laid out very well. Grid color photos of patterns along side the quilts are a great feature. I really appreciate them.I highly suggest this book.

Super Book For Those Wanting Something a Little Different
Really loved this book. I have several quilt as you go books and several EPP books and this is a combination of both so ticks all my boxes. I like how different each idea is not a rehash or variations of the same thing or anyone elses either. Each quilt theme can be down scaled to make any number of other items such as cushion covers and table runners they can also be made totally by hand or machine or a combination of both. I must point out although I have of course heard of Carolyn Foster and have quilting magazines with her work in them this is the first book of hers that I have bought.

Spoilt by photos you can’t see!
It’s a shame that crucial pages / photos showing you how to join are all in “ cream colour” everyone knows on YouTube to use different colour thread “ so you can see the darn thing “ Shame on Search press and Carolyn for this massive error ! I really can not see the stitches I’m supposed to see! It is a shame as the book is interesting but flawed due these pages and It is a new book !
