Pill-Masker Original Bacon-Flavored Paste for Dogs & Cats, 4oz

This stuff is made, I'm convinced, of actual magic. I have an incredibly picky dog who also has to have daily medication. It's been a pain trying to figure that out for years. I tried a lot of things--peanut butter, cheese, her dog food, treats, the pill pockets, etc, and every option I ever tried either resulted in her refusing to eat it at all, or being inconsistent on whether she would eat it on a daily basis. I had to throw out meds here and there over the years because the pills would end up disintegrating in the peanut butter or whatever else I was using, before I could get her to eat it because she would let it sit there for hours. It also meant I couldn't be sure she was getting her needed medication every day. And it was a pain whenever I needed to have someone else watch her, because I had to come up with a complicated system of covering the pills and I couldn't do it ahead of time because the pills would disintegrate and she wouldn't eat it, but to ask people to do the system and have her still refuse to eat it was a big pain. Considering her medication is related to severe separation anxiety that has resulted in her injuring herself in the past, it was especially a problem if she wouldn't consistently have her medication when I wasn't around to keep trying when I was home before/after work. Added to all this, I have one of the few dogs that is apparently allergic to chicken(?), so I can't buy her anything with chicken or chicken byproducts in it. Which, if you've ever read ingredients on dog food and treats, is almost everything. Then, one day, I saw the Tomlyn pill-masker at a pet store near me and I figured, what the hell. I'll give it a try. And I'm so glad I did! This stuff is frickin AMAZING! She literally, not once in the 2-3 years I've been using this, has EVER refused to take anything that was wrapped in this. Because it's a substance I can cut/tear pieces off, I can use it to mask any size of item I need. I've offered her chewable tablets for short-term meds for her before that's supposed to be something a dog will eat straight and she won't touch it; I go and put even a super thin layer of the Tomlyn pill masker on it and give it back to her and she eats it immediately. Even the time or two where I made too big of a pill ball for her and she couldn't easily eat it because of teeth issues, if I tear it into smaller pieces she has zero problems eating it. In previous configurations I tried, if she started to eat it and it fell open and she could smell or see the meds inside, she would refuse to eat more of it even if I tried covering the edges with whatever I was using (like peanut butter or etc) -- but with this stuff, the few times she's seen what's inside I just put a bit more of the Tomlyn pill masker over the edge and she had no problems downing it. Also, because of the consistency of this pill masker, it is sooooo easy to bring traveling with her--I can just cut off a chunk, throw it in a baggy or a sealed bottle, and I'm good to go. It also is super easy to explain to people watching her when I'm on vacation; it's really easy to understand that all they have to do is tear off a piece and cover the meds and she'll eat it. I genuinely do not know what I would do without this. I was getting to a point where I was running out of realistic options for giving her medication before I found this. This has made my morning routine with my dog approximately 1000 times faster and simpler and less stressful, as well as those occasions when she has specialty meds from a vet visit (like now, when she had minor surgery and I have to give her pain meds, etc, in addition to her other medication). I honestly feel like by now it would be getting near impossible to deal with her pickiness in trying to give her medication, if it weren't for this product. The biggest issue I have is so few pet stores carry this; it was only the one store where I ever found it, and then they stopped carrying it. I freaked out until I realized I could find it online -- and it's even an add-on item at the moment for Amazon! If you ask me, this product is ridiculously amazing, and it's 100% worth the price. If you have a picky eater of a dog and if you need to make sure you can consistently give them their meds, I really recommend you try this out. If your dog is anything like mine, your only regret will be not having found this sooner.

You’d think I was trying to give my cat an elephant the way he could detect medications! After not having success with my first try of hiding a tiny pill in his canned cat food, this product has now worked for 4 days masking the 2 tiny antibiotic pills a day my cat has to take. I love how I can easily mold the paste around the pill making it just the right size for my toothless cat so he can gulp it down rather than chew it! He has never had bacon flavored food, but he had no problem with it and I think it helped to mask the pill scent! I would highly recommend this product especially if you were giving up on hiding the pill in food and bracing yourself to try to do it by opening their mouth!!

I have tried everything to give my cat going through chemo her pills. And I mean ev-er-y-thiiinnnggg!!! I tried this as a last ditch effort fully thinking it would never work. Well, I should have tried it from the very beginning. It’s the ONLY thing that works and she gobbles it right up. She used to somehow find the pills in pill pockets and eat around them or spit them out. Same with Churu, cottage cheese, yougurt, etc. I even balled up tuna and she’d still find the pills. This pill masker is perfection. Grab a pinch, put the pill on top and make a little ball with the pill in the middle. Watch your kitty eat it right up! Buy this now. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Love this stuff! Had regular pill pockets and my boy got tired of them pretty quick. Had 2 kinds...salmon and chicken and they just bored him too quickly. But this stuff is AMAZING...smells like bacon! I use a small spoon and just dip out enough to cover his pill and he scarfs it up. And he is already on his second jar of it. It also lasts a long time since you only need to use enough to cover the pill. No waste.

I have to give my dog, who has had two leg surgeries and major arthritis in both his knees, five pills in the morning and five pills in the evening and if pain is horrible two pills in the afternoon. Tomlin's is one of the best pill wraps that I found. My dog does not eat them like a treat (well my other dog does. She thinks the pill wrap is a treat and loves it) I literally use this just to keep his pills together so I can put them down his throat all at once. Now with that being said this product is great because it is way less greasy than other products. It makes everything more manageable and cleaner for me. We are on a subscription where a two pack of these comes every 2 months. Now lately our product has either come late, not at all because they're out of stock, arrive with no lid at all or the top aluminum foil seal was not sealed flat and had a wrinkle in it which then would let air in and I would be given a big old hard rock of pill paste. I just noticed when I ordered just now a single jar because my last subscription didn't come because they were out of stock that the advertisement says that it does not dry out. This is false. If you do not put that aluminum sealant flat back down when putting on the cover it will dry out. Even with the cover tightly secured. There is no way to fix it once it is dried out. I have put a slightly moist piece of paper towel in there just so it could suck up some of the moisture and that literally turns it into a gross sticky dumpling feel. Now with all this being said, yes the product is not RETURNABLE, however it is still REFUNDABLE or REPLACEABLE. All Tomlin and Amazon are saying is that once the product is damaged they do not want it back, but they will replace the damage product or refund you the money. Unfortunately these last few months I know this first hand because of all the issues that I've had. I did have to buy a container of a competitor's product when they were out of stock and couldn't replace the damaged item that they sent me. Even though my one dog who thinks that pill wrap is a treat still liked the flavor, I did not like the greasy feel of it. It was virtually impossible once I got a Gob of the pill paste in my hand to pick up the capsule needed to put in it because my hands were so greasy. Now with all that being said I am still a Tomlin customer and will be in hopes that it was just a bad few months and they fixed their problems.

I’m convinced my Chihuahua could teach a masterclass on how to detect medication hidden in food. Over the years I’ve tried what feels like every trick known to humankind: cheese, peanut butter, hot dogs, pill pockets, deli meat, crushing pills, hiding them in wet food, bribery, bargaining, dramatic sighing, and even pretending to eat the treat myself like it’s some kind of culinary treasure. My dog spotted every single attempt like a tiny four-legged detective and would surgically remove the pill from whatever I hid it in. Then I found Tomlyn Pill-Masker. I rolled a small ball, tucked the pill inside, and braced myself for the usual suspicious sniff and rejection. Instead, my dog inhaled it like it was the greatest delicacy ever created. No hesitation, no pill excavation, no dramatic spit-out across the room. Just gone. I honestly don’t know what wizardry is in this paste, but it works. The texture is perfect for molding around pills, it sticks well, and apparently the flavor passes the very strict Chihuahua taste test. If you have a stubborn, suspicious, or theatrically picky dog who treats medication time like a battle of wills, this stuff might save your sanity. It certainly saved mine. Medication time in my house went from a daily strategic operation to a 5-second non-event. Whoever invented this deserves a medal.

With a dog that gets daily pills, other pill pockets just got too expensive, despite ripping larger ones in half, or using 'cat' sized, to give the tiny half a pill to my dog. Even then, she would occasionally chew-chew-chew, then p-too out the pill, leaving me to try again. I tried this stuff as an alternative, and it's been a great, cost effective option. It has a dense, smoky smell, and is nice and sticky, which means it sticks to the pills well so that they can't be extracted and spit out as easily as the other ways I've tried...my dog has always happily eaten the whole thing. Very easy to use, I just pull a small piece off, flatten it out, and mold it around the pill. At one point where we had a stretch without pills, the masker started to dry up a little, so I just put a few drops of water in after using it. Next time, it was actually TOO sticky, but within a few days, it was back to a good consistency. I (and our dog) give it 5 stars! --------------------- Updating to drop the rating...these USED to be cost-effective, but now that the price has nearly tripled, it no longer gives any advantage over pill pockets, other alternatives. As long as it stays over $40 a pound for this, it's no longer worth it.

My cat refused every flavor of the pill pockets in the green bags. His medication is in tablet form and must taste terrible. I was really tired of getting scratched and it was damaging our relationship everyday for me to grab him up while he was sleeping, burrito him in a towel and force him to swallow the pill coated in butter. I read another pet parent’s advice to split to tablet in half and hide it inside of a chicken flavored empty capsule (purchased at the same time on Amazon). I have to trim a small amount of the empty capsule so that it is as small as necessary to hide the halved tablet. Then I roll the capsule in this pill paste. I also roll 2 delicious crunchy cat treats in the pull paste and give him one of those first, immediately followed by the medication version and before he even swallows it, I offer the other delicious treat version - all 3 covered in the pill paste. He sometimes chews the first version which is why I use a pill-paste covered treat first - I don’t want him chewing the “real” one which is the second one. I give the “real” one very quickly and rush him by offering the second treat one before he even thinks about chewing the terrible-tasting tablet one in the capsule. So far, so good - it’s worked for over a week and I no longer dread medication time.

Our dog is the worst for taking tablets. We had tried everything, he soon became wise to our methods.This product hides the taɓlets and maskes the smell.Now giving the dog his medication is a breeze.

My cat stopped eating Greenies pill pockets after a bout of pancreatitis so we tried this instead. It stinks but he loves it! No more fighting with pills he eats them happily with no problem.

Easy and mess free. My cat gobbled his encased tablet and looked for more. Fantastic solution and alternative to blood transfusions from him shredding me!

My dog loves this stuff. He is on meds morning and night, he never hesitates to take them. It's nice that you can select how much you need to use.

Having read the reviews I thought my cat will eat this to take her pills… oh how I was wrong. She sniffed it and turned her back and walked away. One fussy and expensive cat. £32 of putty that will never get eaten 😩
