True to size
Purchased for my son to play club rugby (New Jersey). We saw the reviews saying they were on the tight size so initially purchased a size up. Had to return those and repurchase the usual size and they fit perfectly. They're cotton with no give - unlike usual flexible lycra shorts which is difficult for kids to get used to and so I wouldn't call them "comfortable". BUt they are fit for purpose and they are rugby shorts. The cotton is a heavy cotton and should survive many hard tackles on the field.Would reccommend to anyone looking to play rugby.

Exactly as described
Gilbert Kiwi rugby shorts are the best rugby shorts ever made. If you disagree, than ok coolโฆI donโt actually care about arguing about that sort of thing anyways. Iโm sure your opinion is more than valid. But like. Buy these too.

Size fluctuation
First off, great shorts....last time i purchased was in 2020; been wearing this brand for 15 years...in 2020 they cost $16.98, whoa now $30.00....just about double...NOT worth it anymore....too bad.

Sturdy comfortable shorts
These rock. I bought my first pair about a month ago and have been wearing them every day since. They are comfortable, particularly for the summer. They are short enough to not cover too much of your leg, the sturdiness of the cloth helps them stay off your legs to give more breathing room, they cotton itself is a breathable cool material, and there's plenty of space in the crotch area for good airflow. These are the ideal summer shorts. They also look good. I have black and white. The white pair is thick enough so that the color of my boxers does not come through much, unlike most white shorts. They are STURDY. The elastic holds up very well so I can put heavy things in my pockets and they won't slide down even if the string is not tied. The pockets are a good size as well.I'm 6'6" with 36" waist and went with XL for my first pair, but then XXL for my second pair, which was a better choice. XL works fine too but is just slightly tighter. The XXL fit me perfectly and also were slightly longer so they do a better job of covering my boxers. The only con I can think of is that the orientation of the pockets causes my phone and/or wallet to slide out of the pocket almost every time I sit down.

These Last and Last
This is the third time I have purchased these. I am buying a couple new pair to replace a couple pair I bought in June 2013. (I had to look that up.) I wore them probably one day every week or two. The elastic finally gave out in one of the old pairs but only after four years of really frequent use. They have changed a little over the years in that the first two pairs had white trim around the pockets, but the second two pair and these two pair are completely black. (That's really the only way I could ever tell the newer ones from the older ones.) After dozens of washes (nearly every week in four years), they had faded, but haven't frayed. (See picture with new shorts on the left and 2013 version on the right.) These have outlasted any other shorts I have ever had.I just use them as all-around gym shorts as in I don't play rugby. (Sorry guys.) I absolutely despise shorts that come down to my knees as I think they stick to my legs. These do not have that issue. Most gym shorts also don't come with pockets, but these do. They are deep enough for a good sized cell phone, which lets me listen to music and podcasts while wearing them. They do not have rear pockets (nor would I expect them to).Be warned though. The sizes run small, and I buy one size larger than I normally wear.

Brilliant shorts
The waistband is generous and would stretch a lot - however they are actually very comfy for the size I ordered. I've lost a bit of weight since buying as well, and they still fit well. The waistband is very well made and the standout part of these. The material is hardy as you'd expect with rugby shorts. They clean well and keep their colour - Although this is to be expected with Gilbert, who usually always make top-notch gear.

High quality and very comfy
Great quality shorts have survived first few months of rugby very well. These shorts are incredibly comfortable and sit nicely even when running around. Shorts look great and generally feel like a high quality product.Shorts were slightly larger than I was expecting, I'm a 34 waist and ordered medium, but still fit well. I would consider buying a size smaller than for regular shorts.Overall shorts are good value for money, given the quality of the material, the resilience and the comfortable fit. Highly recommend!
