Fantastic
The Hook & Moor is fantastic. This is a great tool for grabbing a mooring ball. For those with taller freeboard, consider getting one of the longer versions. My 37' express cruiser would really benefit from one of the longer models like the 98" version with the larger 60mm head size (the one shown here in photos). One star removed because the photo doesn't represent that actual Hook & Moor size offered here.

This is a great product. Only had one issue when first trying it. The screws that hold the inner wheel in place backed out of the inset nuts. We lost a screw but were able to replace it. We put lock tite on them and it is fine.

Works as intended
Overall I’m pretty happy with the function of the hook & moor. My only real complaint is that the hook itself appears to be metal in all the product photos but it is actually just black plastic. I would’ve thought the hook would be stainless at the price and was disappointed when I opened the package. I’m guessing by the product photos that it used to be stainless and that the company is now cutting corners to increase profit margins.

Worth it!
This hook is going to rock my world next time I have to grab a mooring ball on my own. It looks complicated when you watch the videos, but it is really very simple. Worth every penny.

Impressive engineering, practice before you depend on it
We moor our 25 foot Catalina and the harbor has us in current with frequent winds pushing us to either rocks, a bridge, or back out to sea through other boats in the field. It would be helpful to get the ball the first time. That said, and as clever as this is, we still keep a simple hook on deck each time because this doesn't always behave and that's a bad feeling when you're in 20kts of wind. It is idea, with practice, for single-handedly getting the ball hooked with a line already cleated off. Then you can kill the engine and pull yourself in, pick up your mooring lines, and secure the boat better to the mooring.

The clever boat hook
Clever design. I bought it primarily to help the bow person grab the mooring balls easier. So far it seems to be working but will update further. One caveat is you definitely want to read the instructions and figure out how to use it prior to the first moment you use it.

Not for buoys in Salish Sea /Seattle/ washington
Broke on 2nd use. Can’t fit through some eyelets. Won’t release. Too flimsy for the heavy metal eyelets around San Juans and beyond. Save your money. Expensive for being so ineffective.

It works
It works. Not cheap. Practice at home before using.

Good but tricky
This products works well as long as you can keep the hook part from sliding out while you are hooking on to a mooring ball....otherwise it closes the hook part. But once you get the hang of it ....works great!!

ブイからのもやいが楽に!
ブイからのもやいを採るが楽になりました。ショートハンドでの係留には強い見方です。幾つかこの手のボートフックを試しましたが、失敗しない良い工夫です。

Must have for single hand boater
Best help when docking single hand, very easy to use. Only complaint is a bit bulky but once you figure it out how to hold it to suit you.
