Easy to install and highly effective.
I'm very pleased with how easy it was to install and its robustness, quality, and efficiency. The noise level from this fan is neglegable given its CFM flowrate. I measured power usage @120VAC as 0.81 Amps and 95 Watts. I needed for dust and paint-fume evacuation in my basement. I often spray paint small projects there and have been using a simple box fan in a window to keep fumes from wafting into the upstairs living areas, but it wasn't as effective as I would have liked. After installing this new unit, the amount of airflow is so high that even with another basement window open for airflow, the negative pressure generated by this exhaust fan is still sufficient to pull air from the upstais living areas, resulting in absolutely no odor from paint spraying, or any other activity in the basement entering the upstairs living areas. Problem solved. I could also see how this fan would be effective for cooling.

I read a lot of reviews and am glad I selected this fan
I was really worried about choosing the right attic fan for our home because once they are installed, they are difficult to service and / or replace. Some of the views about noise and about the thermostat burning out prematurely concerned me, but I decided to take the plunge and buy this.InstallationInstallation was easy for my contractor. No issues there. An electrician hooked it up.NoiseThe fan is running right now in the attic above me and I can hear a very very distant hum if I really concentrate on it. This is a 1972 house with original (thin) insulation so I am surprised I can not hear it more. There is no vibration and outside it looks fine. The louvers also open and close well.ThermostatThe thermostat with the remote control is the best part of this fan. I did buy an extended warranty on this piece (bought separately) because I was concerned about premature failure from reading other reviews. The thermostat lets you choose what temperature it goes on and off at, and tells you the current temperature of the attic which I like looking at. The attic did go up to 125 the other day when it was 101 outside, but on most days it keeps it around 110. My house used to make lots of noise as the hot wood contracted in the attic as it cooled... now it's quiet and no longer does that.Air conditioning also working much better.Overall I am very pleased with this purchase and can highly recommend it. If I run into any durability issues I will update this review.Hope this helps!

Everything I was hoping for
Works. Easy to mount (built a 2x4 frame for it). Haven't heard the louvers flapping in the wind, but it is in the garage. Keeps the heat in nicely in the winter.

It's a pretty good fan for a shop. solid fram and pretty easy to install
I got this for my shop. It was quite easy to install as they give you a decent amount of overlap to work with so the framing does not have to be spot on. I put some caulk on the underside of the exterior metal flange to keep water out. . I used MC. (the spiral flexible metal stuff) to wire it. I also got a speed controller. It does move a good amount of air and the motor seems well sized. It does have oiling holes in it that are oddly on the bottom. IDK if the person putting this together was not paying attention or if this is how it is supposed to be. It's not a big issue because you don't need put a ton of oil on these. (that may be why they are upside down to keep people from going overboard with the oil) The noise and the flap issue others mentioned were the only reason I did not give 5 starsIt is not quiet. It is not super loud, but mine is right near my workbench and it is annoying. So much so that I don't like to leave it running. I am personally more annoyed with noise than most. Basically any fan is going to be kind of noisy at this size and CFM. as far as the noise from outside it's not an issue unless you live in a condo building and have a neighbor 10' from it

Great for home shop
Very impressed with this fan. Makes as much noise as any other 16” fan. The flaps open and close easily when the fan turns on/off. Wiring was extremely easy. Has a little square space to hide the wire nuts when you splice to the existing wires so it looks very clean when installed.Moves a ton of air for the size. I open a window on the opposite side of the garage and you can feel the temperature change quickly.Great buy for $100 if you have a home garage that gets unbearably hot in summer.

Very high initial quality, works great!
I installed this fan about 2/3 of the way up the side of our building in a welding shop. Wheat State welding LLC. Our shop is only 1500 square foot but this fan does an awesome job of evacuating spoke from plasma cutting and Welding operations! Not sure how long it's going to last but so far so good I'm very impressed. One caveat to note when you're installing it there are plugs for oiling the motor make sure that those are installed right side up as it's very easy to not notice them and install them upside down.In a 1500 ft metal building used as a welding shop this fan is almost silent. That held up great for over 3 years until I moved out of that shop. I would highly recommend.

At this price point, a good value.
Exactly as advertised. Installed it on our screen porch for some air motion on hot Louisiana days. As I was framing in the screen supports at the same time the width was not an issue but this will not fit into most walls with 16' stud spacing. Moves the air about as I expected. A bit noisier than I like but at this price point I didn't expect whisper-quiet; just crank up the music a bit more. I added a toggle switch as the fan is on the same circuit as the lamp. Lowes had a long-throw switch so I just added it the junction box (which is a nice feature and makes installing to code much easier). Louvers operate as expected when the air flow hits them. Overall, a good value.
