I have 2 of these solar panels. They've served us well for 2 summers with daily use, so far. Still going strong! They only work when direct or slightly clouded sunlight is shining directly onto the panel. They will not work in the shade. But the cords are long enough that you can usually place the panel in 1 area and the fountain pump several feet away. I regularly clean the panels with the hose and dunk the fountain pumps in a 10:1 water:bleach solution monthly to clean them, per bird feeder / bath cleaning guidelines. The pumps come with an array of fountain heads which is great and make a pleasant, relaxing babbling brook sound. I would definitely buy these again and recommend them. However, if you're seeking something that will function 24/7 in the non-winter months and will also prevent mosquitos, a Water Wiggler is my top choice. Both options attract birds well because they are drawn to clean, moving water. But the wiggler is better for 24/7 functionality and mosquito prevention, since the solar pumps only work when direct sunlight is shining onto the panel.

What I like about this fountain is that it comes with six different heads to change the water patterns, it is very stable in a birdbath with three suction cups on the bottom of the unit to secure it. Even running full power it did not dislodge and stayed in place. The solar panel itself is a large generous size and I found that the sun did not have to be directly on it to run, it also ran in the shade. It requires about two inches of water to operate as the base must be submerged. I first tested this in a shallow bird bath and even in a larger water garden and it worked well in both places. One of the best features is that the solar panel can be mounted and comes with everything necessary to do so if I don't want to simply use the provided stake to put in the ground. The length of the cord is also generous allowing placement of the fountain to be out of the sun if desired. I put the panel in the sun and the fountain on the back porch in the shade, worked wonderful.

This pump has been working well so far, and I do recommend it with some minor caveats: The tubing for the water coming out of the pump was not long enough to break the surface of the water, so I was forced to use the floating disc and have the pump float. Assembly "instructions" were almost nonexistent, and do not mention this floating disc or the very important mesh bag to keep debris from entering the pump. It also doesn't mention the small hole in the mesh bag that is to insert the tubing through. It all took me a while to figure out how it all fits together, but it didn't take TOO long. One drawback of having the pump float is that the pump tends to float to the edge of the bowl, meaning some water may drip over the side and the bowl will slowly lose water. So I had to tether the pump to a rock so that it will stay roughly in the centre of the bowl.

I would have given this a 5 star easily, but the pannel does not hold charge for the fountain. In other words, it only works when the sun is hitting it. Maybe they can add a battery to hold some charge to it. It's otherwise really easily to install and very pretty. All the accessories add varieties for changing the look if you want something different. I don't remember reading this before, but when the fountain is working on full charge, the radius of the water is close to a foot, so a wide basin is best.

This is a nice little solar powered pump that we got for a bird bath. It work really well in full sun, but even in the shade or on a cloudy day will move the water around some. I'm quite impressed with it, and everything worked well. I didn't use any of the attachments as I just wanted movement in the water. It fits well in our bird bath and keeps the water moving to prevent mosquitos and keep the birds happy. Very happy with the purchase!
