Perfect hack to automate pool fill line.
I bought this timer to automate my pool's fill line, and it's worked perfectly. Our pool wasn't built with an automatic water filler, so during the Texas summer we were having to add water every few days because of evaporation. I installed this timer on the PVC fill line just after the backflow preventer and programmed it to run for 30 minutes every three days. Since then, the water level has stayed right where it should without me having to think about it. This has been a simple, reliable, and much more affordable alternative to installing a dedicated automatic pool filler. The timer has been dependable, easy to program, and has saved me from constantly dragging out a hose or worrying about the pool level dropping too low. If your pool doesn't have an automatic fill system, this is an inexpensive solution that works surprisingly well.

Minor quirk, but functional and worth it
I got this originally to keep a wildflower seed bed constistantly moist to establish, which is hard when you work during the day when it can dry out and die. Used it again the same season to establish areas I seeded for grass. Works by a motorized plastic ball valve, so it will eventually wear out overtime, but proved invaluable as it reliably kept an area moist after I dialed into the "sweet spot". The quirk is that when you set a schedule time, it doesn't open immediately despite there being a delay function. The work around is to let it run a cycle before setting the schedule (which allows you see see if the area recieved ample moisture or to just bug off for a bit) and then come back and set the schedule. If you really want to fine tune a schedule, then go shell out money to get a similar device with a digital display. This item fit my needs and its from a brand I trust.

Thought it was broke, But it was simply too tight, still works.
Changed from 3 - Stars to 4 Stars: (Original Review) I purchased on Dec 04, 2023. The guts have now stripped themselves and it just sits there clicking, not sure if it's trying to open up or what. Make sure to use Energizer Lithium batteries because this things chews through them like nothing. Prior to the click-of-death, several times over the year I'll walk around the foundation and wonder why it's so dry and viola, the alkaline batteries are dead again. I finally went to Lithium batteries as they seem to last longer. I can't blame it too much because not too many things last under this ridiculous San Antonio heat. I don't think anything else I would buy would last either, so I'll likely buy another of these due to the price being much cheaper than similar products. UPDATE: Just purchased a new one because they are inexpensive. I found something out when taking the old one off....it still works. I found out what the issue was. Makes sure you have plenty of teflon pipe tape and be liberal when wrapping your threads. It should be pretty tight from the start. The reason is because this thing likes to leak from the top so our natural inclination is to just tighten everything. Well, apparently I had it too tight because the part that goes from the spigot to the unit was putting too much pressure on the little plastic washer that impeded the operation of the piece (little white ball) that controls the flow of the water. That's the clicking sound you hear in the video. So now I have two working units. I amended my review from 3 stars to 4. Why not 5? Because this thing leaks pretty bad and I had to provide all my own rubber grommets. I would suggest along with the teflon tape, thicker aftermarket rubber grommets, maybe some sort of pipe sealant. Also, make sure you use lithium batteries because this thing eats up Alkaline for breakfast. I'll see how it goes since I have the new unit on and working right now so far with no leaks. In addition, the city appears to have upped the water pressure, so I only have the faucet a little over half opened. This unit controls a foundation watering system pumping H2O through buried soaker hoses running around my entire house. Yes, it has been working great, my doors are no longer lopsided and open freely.

Good while it lasted
This unit worked pretty well for several months although there are some limitations. You can't set the timer for a certain time of day so you have to start it at the time you want it, run it for awhile, then set the frequency from there. This wouldn't be that bad if the batteries lasted. Several times my garden died up and things died before i realized the batteries were dead. In the end, the batteries seemed to last for less than 1 day. That's when i found it that it wasn't that the batteries that were dead afterwords, the timer was not functioning. It's an Inexpensive limited function timer that I feel should work for at least a year before failing.

Early days, but works properly so far... UPDATE NOT GOOD!
Has blinking indicator. Battery tray has gasket. Top cover appropriately has no seal. Easy to set with fantastic fineness. No digital readout to fail. Update It lasted 2 months before the valve broke internally. No stresses were applied. I was making my rounds and found a dry pumpkin patch. Went to troubleshoot the fault and the broken valve ball fell out. The electrical portion is fine. Can see that the engineers 😳 chose to drive a screw through a moving plastic component (the ball) to hold it in place.

Works well
I have only experienced working with this kind of item twice in the past. I wanted some thing that didn’t need to be recharged, so this was the obvious solution. I have it hooked up to my four-way hose splitter, controlling the garden hose that reaches the soaker hoses. As of right now, our garden is exponentially, better due to taking the human error out of the equation. I figured out how to be able to water several times a day for 10 minutes. The thing I can’t figure out is how to time it for a certain time of day. I’m not quite sure there is a way to do that. I didn’t spend too much time thinking about it because it was not a life or death situation. If you have it set on twice a day it will water whatever time specified every 12 hours. I believe this is the only way that it works, not on a fixed clock schedule that can actually tell the time. All of these things are standard for such a cheap item that does not need any added power to work. I am deathly impressed with this item and have had absolutely no problems with it.

Great timer for the price
I bought this timer to repair a lawn sprinkler zone line that got damaged somewhere underground. It worked well and was cheaper than any other option. Just know a few things beforehand: It doesn't have a programable timer. If you want to set it to come on at 6am then you need to get up at 6am and go set the frequency and duration knobs. Secondly, the built-in fittings have male garden hose threads. If you want to use it as part of a PVC irrigation system, then you need to buy two brass adapters to convert from hose male threads to PVC male threads. Third, it operates only in the vertical position. Lastly, it is water-resistant not waterproof. Make sure it gets placed out of ranged of the sprinkler system. I recommend this product.

Intuitive and easy to use, works just as it should
Straight out of the box, just throw in some batteries and you are good to go. Intuitive, easy use makes for headache-free installation. I only wish I would have gotten it in spring rather than hand watering all summer. I don't have a need for separate zones and I am fine to let all of my plants get water for the same duration so the simple settings are just fine for me. No need to overcomplicate with an LED screen or any extra buttons. I would recommend to anyone needing a simple water timer!

Fácil de usar, buena calidad
Me gusta que puedes programarlo en el horario que lo necesites y cuando quieres regar simplemente los desprogramas...para está temporada de calor excelente..

Down to one hour frequency with one minute interval
This timer turns of and on without pipe hammer.unlike my old timer.I'm using the timer on a bird bath,so I am hoping that the one hour frequency will keep my 1/4 inch line from freezing.Live in Vancouver so hoping I can operate at minus 1. as we get that temperature quiet often in winter. 2hr intervals don't work.It freezes up and that is the lowest frequency I had one my old timer.Right now have used the timer for two weeks and it is working perfect with no leaks.

not that impressive.
there is no way to set time. only timer. Possible: Run every 24 hours from NOW (when you in the garden). Not possible: Run at 5:00 pm every evening. most irritating pasts: Say I went to 5:00 pm and set the timer to run every 24 hours. Now i cant use that hose for anything else ! if i do it will reset from the time I used.
