The Encounter and Other Stories (Volume 1)

I purchased this for my son for St. Nicholas Day. On the side--for all of you who don't know about this, it is a celebration of the REAL (historical life) LIVE (a Saint in Heaven-he's more "alive" than we are!) SAINT NICHOLAS! On Dec. 5th, children put their "boot" -or flip-lop- by the front door, and during the night, St. Nicholas comes and brings a gift of Faith to help them discover the love of the Baby Jesus and a sweet treat......My son Joseph is just about 12 years old and very much a "comics" fan. I could not be more pleased with the purchase. The drawings are lovey, the colors are vibrant, and the story, an adventure with St. Francis, is well told. Once I saw this in person, I purchased 2 additional copies as gifts for a newly Baptized 9 year old boy and my godson who is also 12. Highly recommend!

This is a wonderful boy who is a follower of Francis of Assisi. He travels about the country side like a minstrel with his pet wolf who often saves him from troubles. My grandsons love this entire series.

I bought this for my 6 year old and he has enjoyed reading it. The illustrations and colors are beautiful and vivid and the lessons in the story are great. We bought book 2 already and we are very happy with this book series!

My 3 year old loves his “Loupio books”! These stories are fun and uplifting! I’m not sure my 3 year old quote unrestands the concept of a comic but he enjoys the stories either way! We have the first two books and look forward to adding more to our collection.

Highest recommendation! We love these graphic books. Large in size and each book comes with multiple stories. My kids absolutely love them all.

Bought these for my seven-year-old daughter. She finished two volumes in as many days. The pictures are bright and illustrate the stories well. All the kids, up to my 15-year-old, have read these books. I like how St. Francis teaches Loupio humility and kindness. He also teaches ALL of us to give whatever we have to those in need, whether it is a thing or simply a smile.

Nice illustrations (which is not the case with many children's books) and great story line. My son loves the series! The reading is comic-style to read, so easy for kids and not overwhelming.

Using the same style as Hergé for the Tintin books, Kieffer pulls it off. Very well done and endearing. Exploring the world at the time of Saint Francis, and a good perspective on faith and its influence on the lives of people at the time.

My daughter read the first 2 volumes quickly and loved the stories.

Very nice stories. Each one is teaching us something.
