Another $160.00 down the drain!
I have to admit, I liked the way this watch looked in the photographs. But, as many of the reviews have pointed out, the minute hand is next to imperceptible. I got this watch last Thanksgiving and wore it one time. For some reason I didn't like it very much -- I think it had something to do with the difficulty I encountered making the clasp lock. Anyway, I put it away for three months and tried to wear it again last night, thinking that a little practice was all I needed to get used to it. After an hour of fiddling with it I was no better off than the first time I tried it. So I tossed it on the carpeted floor in my bedroom and picked it up again in the morning to give it another try. The toss to the carpeted floor was enough to tear the mesh band, right where it attaches to the frame of the watch. As others have pointed out, this watch does not accept any of the conventional bands. and a replacement would cost about $80.00. That does not include the cost of shipping it back to the manufacturer, waiting for it, etc. The clasp had already been ruined just trying to put it on. Any pressure at all is enough to bend it out of shape, rendering it completely useless and unfixable. The mesh band is so cheap it tears like a threadbare bed sheet. I tore the band off the watch with about as much force as you would use to tear a piece of masking tape from its roll. My next step was to take the watch out in my garage, place it gently on the cement floor, and give it one good whack with a ten pound sledge hammer. The reason I gave this a 5 star rating is because most people who have already zeroed in on a product neglect to read the one star reviews. I wore this watch one time only and now it is in the trash. This is the absolute truth. You would not buy a pair of hiking shoes made out of toilet paper. You should not buy a watch with a band made out of steel wool.

Easy to Confuse Second Hand with Minute Hand - Minute Hand too Small
In the product photo that minute hand looks big and obvious and bright. After seeing it again before I wrote this review I looked back and thought, "That's my watch?"The pictures aren't intentionally misleading but they they are larger than the watch and have a LOT of light on them which is just not reality all the time, especially in winter.Problem: The all white moving second hand often grabs my attention faster than the narrow and only partially white minute hand. On a quick look I misread the second hand for the minute hand frequently. When I'm moving or in dim light I really have to STARE at this watch and look closely to be sure I'm reading the time correctly. But, we all just want the know the time at a quick glance in one or two seconds and NOT in five to seven seconds which seems like an eternity.I'm 63 and use reading glasses. Perhaps younger people don't have a problem.I'd rather the manufacturer just eliminated the second hand or made the second hand smaller or just made the minute hand bigger. Any of those options would make this watch faster and easier to read.Otherwise it's a sharp looking watch that's lightweight with a super comfortable band that has a great closure. (Once you finally figure out how it works.) It keeps excellent time.I really do love with watch but find myself not choosing it to wear because I get frustrated with the extra few seconds it takes to realize I'm seeing the second hand, then time to the find minute (which does just jump right out at you) hand to finally figure out the correct current time.

Delivered on time & package protection is beyond excellent...
The top of the line European watch for the money that will last for at least 10 years minimum with no mechanical parts to wear out. The solar powered watch needs no battery replacement for at least its natural internal battery life of a minimum of 10 years. This watch is guaranteed to withstand an air pressure of 5 atmospheres without exploding into pieces (one atmosphere = 14.7 lbs of air pressure per square inch; therefore, 5 x 14.7 = 73.5 psi). Scuba divers may wear this watch up to a depth of 50 meters or roughly 150 feet deep in fresh or sea water. The face of the watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal which is scratch proof & scientifically known to be the 3rd hardest substance after diamond. The strap is a hospital grade stainless steel with a design to aerate your skin thus preventing rashes. The design does not overwhelm ones eyes but is simply, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever to wear". I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING THIS WATCH AS IT EMBRACES TECHNOLOGY, USEFULNESS, ELEGANCE & THE ROOTS OF A WELL THOUGHT OF SCIENTIFIC DESIGN SIMPLICITY AS WELL. Stylish watch, accurate time, solar with minor caveat.
This is a stylish watch. I have owned it for over two years. It looks great. Keeps accurate time. Never needs a battery.I have read other reviews about the clasp. Although the latching procedure is not intuitive, once you learn it, you never have any problems. The watch has never fallen off my wrist. Also the black wristband is holding up fine, not losing any of the black. I am fairly rough on a watch and have had no issues with the band. The only complaint is as people say the minute hand is narrow and has a very narrow limited luminescent area. The second hand is completely luminescent. So although the hour had is immediately identifiable, the second hand is more visible than the minute hand. So in limited lighting you may have to look at the watch carefully to tell what time it is. This can be annoying, but I still am very happy with the watch.

Beautiful watch, but...
I would not mind paying $200 for a beautiful watch, but when I pay that price, I expect AT LEAST ACCURATE TIME, but unfortunately, after several weeks of giving it a chance to redeem itself, it just could not even meet the minimum standard. I am so disappointed - but it makes me wonder how many of these Bering Solar watches have been returned. The other thing about this watch is that crazy latch -- enough already!
