Great quality, and chops quickly.
I bought the original Chop Wizard 10 years ago. It still works perfectly. I went ahead and got this Elite version just to check it out. All of the parts are interchangeable with my original. The hinge area on the Elite is a little beefed up, and looks a little stronger. The Elite has a metal plate on top as well. Both are highly recommend by me. I may give one of them to my sister. I don’t need two.

A must for cooks with arthritis.
I have been through several of these. They seem to have a problem with the clear bottom container's breaking at the hinges. That being said, I will continue to buy replacements as long as they are available at a reasonable price. I have severe arthritis in my hands, and this is the ONLY way I can chop onions, eggs, tomatoes, etc. I cannot imagine having to do without it. Also, the little "comb" provided to clean is indispensable, but can break easily. Handled with care, this chopper & accessories should last long enough to justify the very reasonable price.

It’s so good & easy to use.
I LOVE the Vidalia Onion Chopper so much. I just bought my 6th one! Mine gets tons of wear & eventually ‘tear’. I love the new improvement of Reinforced Stainless Steel Lid. Now I wish they would design steel measuring cup base, as thr current plastic base is why I have to keep ordering new choppers. The little plastic ‘knob’ (?) the lid sits on to chop breaks, eventually. Notice, I like it well enough that I keep ordering a new one every time it breaks. That’s how much I love it!

I'm pretty fast at dicing a single onion without even using a cutting board (and I start just about every dish with my onion, garlic, olive oil base). This baby comes in handy when I'm doing more and one or when I'm chopping multiple items - I get perfectly even diced veggies with very little effort. I've used one for YEARS and finally needed a replacement and like this one much better than the original.. The bad reviews are probably due to usage error. You can't put half an onion on there and then expect to just press down! Of course it doesn't help that the picture on the box is doing exactly that. If you are realistic, then it works perfectly. For bell peppers I split them open and lay them flat for chopping - overlapping is ok. For onions I make 4 or 5 slices out of the onion then dice each slice. It barely requires pressure when you're using thin slices and then you get very finely diced veggies. I really enjoy the little cleaning comb too! It makes cleanup fun.

Great product with one fixable flaw.....
I'm ordering my third one even though I'm disappointed that it breaks after about 9 months of use: plastic bottom cracks at the curved end when your own the lid down. Concept is great, perhaps reinforced more for the force when closing the lid.

Works beautifully for making dog training treats.
This was recommended by my dog's trainer as a quick and easy way to chop treats for training the dog. The trainer uses a meat roll and the two blades work great (slice the meat thin to use the large chopper and thick to use the small chopper and the treat size can be tailored to the size of the dog you're training. It's been a huge time saver, since I no longer have to hand slice and dice treats. I chop the treats into the different sizes then put in a freezer bag and freeze by size. When I'm ready for more treats, remove them from freezer. Takes hardly any time to thaw and they're ready to go.

amazing
It incredibly speeds the process of cutting vegetables and fruits. It takes little imagination resulting in various shapes and sizes. Requires little force for cutting a hard onion. Does not work well on soft tomatoes, unless you remove the end slice with the peel. I have the cheper version without the metal plate, my daughter uses this one. Both work great. We use them for a year, and they still work, did not crack, and stay sharp. It jamms sometimes during cutting, but this is result of build up of vegetables' particles, and not removing them during the process of cutting larger portion.

Plastic base is major weak point
This is now my 3rd vidalia chop wizard. It will be my last. The first one broke at the hinge point, but it lasted 5 years and saved so much time (and at the time a lack of similar items) I felt it worth buying another one. The 2nd one, one of the plastic feet cracked and caved inwards. This one lasted about 3 years. Was going to go with a different brand but saw the Elite version was out and thought I'd give it a shot. Plus I still had the blades and the lid from the old one that I could use as spares. Unfortunately, the only difference in the Elite and the regular chopper is a weak metal plate on the lid. There is no real benefit for using the Elite and after 6 months this time the base broke, again. Again it was one of the feet cracking and caving in. If they wish to product improve the chopper, the base needs major redesign.
