I bought this clipper kit to trim the back of my hair every now and then, rather than getting a full haircut before I actually need one. It works really well. The large electric trimmer is sharp, durable and has multiple setting speeds. It’s got a decent weight to it and doesn’t feel cheaply made or flimsy. Not very noisy, either You get quite a few extras with your kit. It comes with multiple sizes of blade guards and shapers to control the length and depth of the cuts. You’ll also receive a cleaning brush, comb, scissors, polishing towel and a bottle of refined mineral oil to keep your blades free of corrosion and rust. Two smaller trimmers, both of which are battery operated, are also part of the package. Everything fits comfortably into a canvas tote bag for storage or travel. I've never cut my own hair before so needless to say, I was concerned about how it would come out. I used this kit the other day for the first time and I was very pleased with the results. My haircut came out balanced, very decent actually, although a bit short and it took some time because I was unfamiliar with the process. Yet it looks as good as the cuts I've been getting at Great Clips; the hairs are cut cleanly, not having jagged ends. I'm sure with practice I'll get a lot better, so along with saving money and time on cuts, I'll be able to get (and more importantly maintain) the look I want. Highlights: This product is an EXCELLENT value at $40. The clipper is powerful yet amazingly quiet, a lot quieter than the clipper I'm used to when I frequented professionals. The thumb-adjustable taper control on the clipper is a big plus. The 2 AA trimmer works great and is more powerful than my Norelco beard trimmer which I've been using that uses 3 AA's. The personal trimmer works great and you shouldn't be afraid to use it in delicate areas because it does indeed cut, not pull, and it is indeed safe. You can change heads on the trimmer easily, and the fact that it uses only 1 AA battery is a plus as well. I recommend getting the 1.25" and 1.5" guide combs along with this kit. Sold separately. Hair Cutting Tip (for do it yourself guys): For a finishing touch, place a long piece of thin masking tape on the back of your hair, at the bottom where you want to **square off** your hairline. Use mirrors to help with the positioning, making sure the tape is perfectly horizontal. Then using the trimmer you can go right up to the tape while trimming away the unwanted hair. This will remove all your neck hair and will square off your hairline without even having to use any mirrors at this point. The clippers work great and to get actual chrome the kit would cost a LOT more. - The product description DOES tell you that you get guide combs up to 1". Somebody didn't read that obviously. - OK, the scissors are not great. That's not a good enough reason to downgrade the review to 4 stars. - Somebody mentioned that they would like rechargeable batteries and awarded a 4 star review because of that. LOL I guess they never heard of rechargeable AA batteries. - The cape works just fine and if the velcro detaches there's a simple fix: Crazy glue - So what if the bottle of oil included is small? Any regular all purpose tool oil will work just fine, there's nothing special about the oil. - Somebody complained that they couldn't register the kit online. That's funny, I had NO PROBLEM registering the kit, Product #79524-3001 which will register the clipper, trimmer, and personal trimmer all at once. - Somebody wanted videos. My haircuts are actually *better* and more *consistent* than what I was paying $15 for at Great Clips. I would tell them "rounded and full up top, short and tapering on the sides". What I usually got was an uneven top which wasn't blended well with the sides. Now I can do that myself with this kit and I can do the entire cut in less than 40 minutes (total time including cleanup). Bottom line: Using this kit is just like combing your hair. That's the only skill. The trick is to know *how* to do this effectively. Just take notes and refer/update them with every cut. Once you get the hang of this you'll be amazed at how well your cuts turn out. The Main clipper is very strong and sturdy, the trimmer has some weight to it, but it, like the nose trimmer is a lot of plastic. The latter two require batteries, which may contribute to their weight. The main clippers are very strong and sturdy, and have all the attachments. This was a great part of the kit. The motor is really quiet. The trimmer is rather loud, but effective. It had no attachments, however, and I thought that was a shame, as I use it to thin the mustache length. The batteries don't last too long with the power of the motor. I think I get 3 full face stylings out of it before they fade out, but this is when I let the beard thicken for a month. Daily trims would be shorter. The nose and ear trimmers; well, frankly I've never found a single brand/ model of those that is useful. I tried it to try it, but it met expectations - those being very very low. The kit would lose nothing without them. Oil & brush, scissors, a very small mirror, combs, plastic clothes cover, kit bag all add to the value, which was awesome thru amazon.

The separate devices are double A battery tools (hairline trimmer/groomer device). All of these do not feel like you are cutting anything, but it cuts like a beast. Extremely great hair clippers/grooming set!! 5 stars! Weights almost nothing, easy as heck to use, and the attachments are so simple to put on. DOES NOT GET HOT, even after using it for like 5 hours. This company knows what they are doing.

The clippers by themselves are excellent barber shop quality. They are almost perfect. Cons -The only con I would give it is that its not that great for edge ups and detailing. But for everything else they work better than expected. They dont clog up and they can push through thick shaggy hair. You'd be surprised by how many expensive clippers sold on amazon cant even do that. Pros -They are powerful and can cut through thick and shaggy hair in one long line. They dont get clogged up -The clippers themselves dont do edging up a detailing very well, but they come with a mini wireless edge up clippers. They even come with an even small edge up clippers that can do eyebrows and other detailing. -they come with a ton of accessories: hair gaurds for all different lengths, 2 clips for if you need to part a segment of hair out the way, small brushes, a little bottle of clipper oil, a small mirror, a hair cut bib, 2 smaller edge up clippers, and a carrying case. -Very good value and real cheap for all that you get. These are better than probably 99% of all the clippers on amazon. Dont get fooled into buying more expensive clippers with features such as wireless or waterproof. I've purchased many of those by mistake only to find out they dont cut hair very well. Wahl is definitely a name brand you can trust that delivers high quality with cheap pricing! thanks!

Clippers: Seem solid and well built. Makes a loud “snap” noise when first turned on. Not sure if this is normal or they’re defective. Trimmer: I installed the batteries for the trimmer and turned it on - they worked fine. Turned it off, and tried the button again. It wouldn’t budge. I got it to turn on by applying more pressure while holding a towel and now nothing. They’re broken and useless. Mini trimmer: Works fine so far. As a mom of two boys who gives them frequent touch ups between appointments, I’ve been looking forward to buying Wahl clippers because they’re supposed to be high quality. I was happy to finally have a trimmer for tight spots/hairline - that’s why I bought this kit - and to have it break within minutes of opening the box is disappointing. The loud “snap” or “click” noise on the clippers is worrisome. I hope they don’t malfunction. *I called Wahl customer service and they’re closed due to COVID-19 (understandable and necessary but frustrating nonetheless.) Their warranty policy in the box states that you must send them the broken item for review (you pay shipping.) I’m hoping once I get through to them they don’t actually make me pay to mail the broken trimmers back. **I used the clippers and the mini trimmer today on my son’s hair. They worked very well - much better than the Conair ones I had previously. The jarring “snap/loud click” noise that was happening while turning the clippers on stopped by the end of my son’s haircut. I will update this review if/when they replace the broken trimmers.

I love the clippers and all of the accessories that it comes with. The motor is powerful and the cut is crisp. One thing that should not be ignored is that you won't need to worry about a battery going dead or losing power as you cut as this is powered by wire. As such, you definitely notice that the motor that drives the unit is more substantial (heavier) than motors of the battery operated versions. Having said all of this, there is one thing, however, I would change: the storage pouch. When you open the pouch, the blade guards end up spilling out all over the place. The pouch is rather flimsy and the internal pouches do not have enough Velcro to hold the guards in-place. I had to get baggies from the kitchen in order to manage these things within the storage pouch.
