Vintage Details: A Fashion Sourcebook

This is a beautiful book to look through, with full length photos and detail closeups. Great for the fashion and design enthusiast. I sew my own clothes and was looking for inspiration on how to tweak my tnt patterns. Very happy with this book.

I have an extensive library of fashion and sewing books, and this book is one of my favorites. Vintage Details is a picture book that illustrates in a very informative way the quality, ingenuity, and style that can be incorporated into a garmet when those things matter to the dressmaker. Another reviewer mentioned the fast-fashion trend that we live by today, fueled by very affordable clothing from Asia, that is easily disposable after a few wears. The clothing in this book was meant to last for years and years, with classic styliing and details that never go out of fashion.I own a lot of books that showcase various, well-known designers such as Chanel, Dior, Vionnet, etc. I did not recognize any of the designers whose work is published in this book, yet the clothing and its details are second to none. Very enjoyable book, and I will be incorporating some of these "Vintage Details" into my own home reations.

This book has beautiful pictures. From a research standpoint, I was hoping it would have more description of the details. Overall, great visual sourcebook.

Gorgeous, lots of crisp detail of what you really want to see in a classic garment. All the interesting detail magnified for you so you really get an idea of the construction of things. Inspirational, i bought it to use as an idea book to give me a good look at styles from previous decades and it is serving well.

As a home sewer with an interest in design, this book is an invaluable aid. Pictures are clear and the choices of garments are excellent. My only complaint is that there weren't more items included! I can't wait to start incorporating some of these details into my own clothing!

The book I received was brand new with plastic and felt like i was the first person to flip through the pages.Pages and pages of photos, some with multiple pieces of clothing in one page and others have a closeup of the detail like stitching, pockets and collars. Looks like I'm going to be increasing my clothing terminologies soon! Worth every dollar! Vendor packaged book with much care! Would buy books there again.

A perfect book for any fashion designer, or vintage fashion enthusiasts. Beautiful photos of multiple eras of fashion. The book is separated into sections, sleeves, Hems, embellishment Etc. And detailed photos for each section. Great for fashion inspiration/construction details and makes a beautiful coffee table book too. Very happy to have this book as part of my fashion book collection.

Prima di acquistare il libro ho letto accuratamente le recensioni, diverse erano negative ma ho comunque provato ad acquistarlo, credo che sia importante prima di acquistarlo capire esattamente di cosa si tratta, il libro è un volume molto ampio fotografico di dettagli Vintage, mostra quindi abiti e dettagli sartoriali vintage, non ci sono spiegazioni o cartamodelli, è una raccolta fotografica, personalmente l'ho trovata molto utile da stilista e appassionata di vintage e consiglio l'acquisto come libro di ricerca e idee, lo sconsiglio se si cercano spiegazioni dettagliate.

This book is mainly details of American made couture from lesser known fashion houses. The first section shows the complete garments, and further sections deal with details of the garments. i.e. necklines; pockets; fastenings; etc. The book is beautifully illustrated in colour throughout and the date range is roughly 1920s to 1990s. A wonderful sourcebook for anyone wishing to understand garment structure and design. In a nut-shell, its a well produced ideas book
