May the Advent Force be with you
Rats! I forgot to order my Lego advent calendar early, and had to go with this Star Wars variety for 2016 (the Lego website was already backordered for the City and Friends themes). This version is priced at a premium---I think that's expected for "brand licensed" sets---but I'm always happy with the unique holiday pieces and the creative uses of regular components to make seasonal surprises for each day.IMPORTANT: the box itself serves as the display scene for the assembled pieces you will build, so be careful opening it! There are small tape-tabs that close a lid flap to the main box, and that is all that needs to be opened. Slice those tabs carefully, leaving the rest of the box intact, then set it up and you're ready to go. The photo below shows how the box is used for the display scene. Like traditional advent calendars, the little "windows" you punch open are in a random order on the box, so searching for the right day is additional fun.Although Lego does put out new advent sets every year to satisfy collectors, you could certainly re-use the set more than once if you are careful opening the box and then packing it back up. I've even used my previous-year sets to create a multi-box Advent Lego city!

Loads of Star Wars fun, my husband enjoyed everyday
My husband did not open advent calendars growing up, but he has been a Lego and Star Wars fan for many years. We decided to extend our tradition of regular advent calendars (which I started with my kids when they were young) partly because our daughter's family has started advent calendars as part of their Christmas tradition. I chose to get my husband the 2016 Lego Star Wars advent calendar and I can say it was a very big hit. He looked forward to opening up the next day as much as I enjoyed my Lego City Advent calendar. In addition to a number of different or harder to find Star Wars themed mini figures, and the special White Christmas Wookie, there are a number of very inventive ships, weapons and locations to assemble in the calendar. All twenty four days of the advent calendar were so fun, that I decided to purchase him last years advent calendars for my husband to work. He is already looking forward to doing the 2015 Star Wars advent in January and I am confident that we will be buying the 2017 Lego Star Wars advent calendar for him next Christmas season.

Great Advent Calendar for the Star Wars/Lego Lover!!
This Christmas was the first time I broke down and got a "toy" advent calendar for my 6-year old. He absolutely LOVED this Star Wars calendar. The builds were pretty easy for the most part. I did have to go online and download the "Cheat Sheet" PDF and then show him the picture of that days build on the tablet. They do have a picture inside each square of the box, but it was hard to see that without a struggle, especially since he was not supposed to remove the calendar from its location!! My son is a huge Star Wars fan and also Lego fan, so this was the perfect gift for him. It occupied him each morning in December and by Christmas Eve he was super excited to see his entire set of new Star Wars Lego pieces. I was able to snag the 2016 Calendar for a little less since it was a year old... I see no reason to NOT do that!!!

not as great as id hoped
i mean its hard to give this a negative review, because at the end of the day, my kid is running into the bedroom first thing in the AM excitedly wanting to open the next window. But there are some things about this kit that are a bit irksome. Firstly, its $10 more than the 'regular' lego advent calendar. Ok so they need to pay for licensing, maybe. I got the regular christmas themed one last year, and got this for something different. That is the second issue -- they try too hard to make this a cross between a holiday theme and a star wars theme. Eg. a snowman that shoots a snowball blaster? Chewbacca is all white like a polar bear? The rebel guy rides a sled? I got the star wars advent calendar for star wars things to add to the star wars collection, not silly hybrid things that aren't christmas and they aren't star wars, they are somewhere in between. Ok so thats not all items, but that brings me to #3... some of the items are cool - eg. tie fighter, but others are completely unrecognizable as star wars items. Eg. too many tiny spaceships that I've never seen before in star wars, anywhere... I'm not sure some of them are even spaceships... Its almost like they intentionally didnt want to give away too many "real" star wars items, even for the premium price. My son keeps asking me what the heck the ships are and he knows ALL of them. Finally, and maybe this is just me, but it kind of kills the whole surprise fun of the advent calendar when you show half the items on the front and back cover. Maybe at the cheaper price these things would be more tolerable, but all together its not nearly as great as I had hoped.

Wonderful way to count down to Christmas!
This is the first year, that we have used an advent calendar to count down the days until Christmas. My 8 year old son loves the Lego mini figures and is a huge Star Wars fan. We gave it to him the night before December 1st. Every morning since then he has been opening up one surprise after another. He loves all the surprises. I really like that fact that the box is used as a background to play with all the figures he gets. So far I have loved the storm trooper snowman with the carrot nose. I think both my son and I are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the snowy Chewbacca. Hopefully only 2 more days. I think this type of advent calendar will become an annual tradition for our son (and yes, even for us parents too). Love it.

Great fun for the family, nice way to add to your Lego collection
We love our Lego advent calendars! My family are avid Star Wars fans so we went from getting the City Advent Calendar to the Star Wars one. My kids take turns every day opening and assembling one package with my husband. At the end of the season we keep the few actual Christmasmasy ones together and put them away with the holiday decorations and the others are added to my son's Star Wars Lego collection. Fun way to count down to Christmas and add to a Lego collection! My son and husband like to play with them as well. :) You get a variety of figurines and vehicles. I can't tell you what exactly is in it this year since we have not started it yet but you probably will not be disappointed!
