This is a great, fun, inspirational tome to get you thinking about writing again if you've hit a bland spot. Just pick it up, find the chapter you need help with, and start working on the exercises. Another great method for the writer to get back writing again. There are plenty of exercises presented in a very friendly, conversational way.EDIT 6/29/2013: Okay, so I've had more time to peruse this little gem. After having additional time to peruse the pages, I've found this book to be an invaluable asset to any writer looking for inspiration to get them out of ruts or help them with their writing. From finding ideas, figuring out how those ideas go together to form the plot, to overcoming the obstacles placed in the writer's path to getting his or her story finished, this book has helps for many of the steps along the way. This is definitely on my short list of books I like about writing.

I am now reviewing this book, long after purchase, because I took it off the shelf today to look up some information and it was just what I needed. Not only did I find a thorough and clear explanation, I got re-oriented to my idea and back on track writing a complex scene. This book is like a good friend who can answer the question/s you have on writing, give you enough information to make an informed decision, and offers as much as you want to know on a topic, with the option to do more with it if you choose (do writing exercises, read books, read more in this book itself) or go back to your writing. The ideas it has given me on how to work with complex topics and get through being stuck have been invaluable. One of the best writing books I have purchased.

This book contained a lot of worthwhile and useful information. Unfortunately, it was well hidden among a lot of fluff. It would have been a better book had it been shorter and more to the point.

My book arrived very quickly, and I am enjoying thoughtful writing time. It helps to generate new ideas and keeps fresh thought flowing. Writing is hard work, and this book helps make it more creative.

An exceptional book of great value to all writers whether novice or professional. Wonderfully informative with above average exercises. A must have for anyone involved with writing.

In addition to my purchase of "Bringing Ideas To Life" I purchased this book to assist in adding to ideas and story content to help my stories become more readable and interesting. I recommend this book to all writiers looking for additional information and assistance in creating a good book to read.

Great reference book...recommended for those who need ideas...loads of ideas and packaged in a nice way to be accessible when needed.

This is a book containing advice on essentally how to get through writers block. This is done through 'PROMPT:'s that are designed to get you thinking, and thus get the creative juices flowing. They are a mixed bag, but there are plenty of them and I think in this area one man's junk is another man's treasure. There should be something for everyone.It is a bit condescending in places - sometimes the obvious is simply that and doesn't need a paragraph introduction with a quote. Overall, it's a good spur to action, but the actual idea is still going to have to be your own (or more likely, a new take on an old idea). I am concerned that this is a bit on the expensive side for what you get- It's not a cheap book at over ten pounds, and I'm not convinced there is ten pounds of content in it that could not be found with a quick google. I would recommend you try a sample before buying and make that call yourself - the quality is consistent throughout so if you find the sample to be of value then chances are the rest of it will be equally likely. A handy one to have, but nothing groundbreaking.

This book is really helpful when it comes to generating ideas. It is packed with good advice and an excellent companion for writers of all abilities.
