Helpful book in understanding Linux OS and cloud administration with Linux
The book covers three essential topics in Linux administration. The Basic Linux administration section is very explicit, covering all the basics necessary for the proper use of Linux OS.The book guides you through the process of installing the Linux OS. Then proceeds to offers an in-depth explanation of how it works and how to administrate it.The most valuable part of this book for me was the third section, Cloud administration. It smoothed the transition from running on-premise services to deploying them in the cloud, the steps necessary to run a service in a Docker container, and deploying it as an EC2 instance on AWS or as a pod in Kubernetes. The chapter covering Kubernetes is very instructive, pointing out the main architectural ideas behind Kubernetes and how the whole system works. It presents the general components and how they interact with one another and then proceeds to explain the process for deploying, monitoring, and configuring each one.I use Linux, AWS, and Kubernetes daily and, this book helped to cover the gaps I had in knowledge regarding these.

This book was rushed to press.
TL;DR - Chapter 8 is missing. There is a page in its place telling you to download the PDF if you want to read it.I've read the first 2 chapters as of this writing. Overall, I find the writing well done and easy to follow. However, mistakes are not hard to find. For example, there are screenshots that do not match what the description says it is showing you.As stated above, Chapter 8 has been replaced with a page describing what Chapter 8 is about, and how to download it for reading. I did not buy a physical copy of the book to have to print out 79 pages of the book myself. Very disappointing.

Chapter 8 is missing
Chapter 8 is missing from the book; which is supposed to cover Linux Networking Services, such as DNS, DHCP, SAMBA etc. I am not sure if it is contained in the digital edition, but hard print version does not. 'Linux for Networking Professionals' by Rob VandenBrink seems to be a good fill in for these topics.

Very thorough introduction to Linux administration
This is a very thorough introduction to Linux administrator, covering topics including selecting a Linux distribution, installing it, using it, configuring it. It also includes advanced topics like using Ansible, Kubernetes, and AWS EC2. Compared to older books, I particularly appreciated the inclusion of topics like containers, Kubernetes, and cloud computing. For someone who is comfortable with computers but not Linux, this would be a great way to develop an intermediate level of knowledge. There were a few places where the book emphasized the "how" over the "why". For instance, the discussion of DHCP, DNS, and SELinux were thorough, but they provide minimal guidance on use cases in which someone may want to use them. The book also emphasizes the use of CentOS Linux, but only touches on it's recent deprecation. Interesting users should consider one of the new alternatives, such as Alma Linux. With that in mind, the examples in the book will still apply

Great Linux guide with a modern tinge
The book touches on all important aspects of Linux administration in today's cloud dominated application development world. It is nice to see a connection being made from local processes and IPCs to containerization and micro-services architectures. While full coverage of such complex topics cannot be expected in an administration guide, the book may serve as a diving board into specific areas of concern to new or seasoned Linux administrator alike.I found the Kubernetes chapter compelling and relevant. It supplanted my current understanding of k8s clusters and added the Azure EKS knowledge I needed.

A complete and high-quality book on Linux Administration
This is without any doubt one of the best Linux Administration books one can read.Even though I’m not a Linux beginner and have been working with Linux for a couple of years I still had lots of new things to learn.Alexandru explains each topic in-depth and spends the exact amount of time needed to understand a topic without being redundant. I hope he will publish other books on the same topic as well.So if you're looking to learn Linux please do not hesitate and buy this book.

great book for the admin-turned-DevOps
Covers a lot of ground from on-premises to the clouds, providing practical recommendations on security, disaster recovery and performance.I've use Linux and Kubernetes on a daily basis for many years and still learned a lot from this book.
