So far so excellent!
I've owned my CrossClimber for three months now and haven't had any of the maintenance issues others have had. The Climber has been sturdy and reliable. When it first arrived, we needed a replacement part due to shipping issues, and customer support was amazing. They had the new part out immediately with minimal hassle and followed up to make sure all was good. I LOVE this workout. The CrossClimber takes up less space than any other piece of workout equipment I've ever owned--it's fully functional tucked away in a corner with only 3 1/2 feet by 3 feet of space, under a normal 8-foot ceiling. But the workout is more rigorous than workouts I've gotten with any other piece of workout equipment, including really big, elaborate machines. When I first got it, I couldn't even last three minutes on it! Now I'm up to 33 minutes a day, divided into three 11-minute workouts, with other little "refresher" workouts as the day goes on. Since I work from home and since the equipment needs so little space, I don't have to keep it in our workout room. I keep it in the corner of my office and hop onto it every hour on the hour to wake myself up again and get my blood moving. I've been losing weight during this three months as well as noticeably gaining strength and sculpting. It gives the whole body a strong workout. The thing I really like is that my arms have really gained muscle, something important for an older woman like me. I chose this unit because of the great customer support and because it has the ability to do true cross-climb motion--opposite arms and legs going up. I have to say, I love this and wouldn't buy a unit that doesn't have cross-climb motion. I think it really helps the muscles to have the opposite arms and legs working. I've seen some units advertised as having "resistance" levels, and this unit doesn't have that. Frankly, I don't think resistance would work well with this kind of exercise. You're pulling your body weight upward, as if you are climbing a ladder. How would resistance help that? I think it might make it easier to do rather than harder because it would slow down the downward motion and give the arms a rest. As it is, the arms have to stop that downward motion on their own. All in all, I'm loving the CrossClimber. Fingers crossed that all continues to go well with it. I think this company has all the right ideas. I just hope they can continue to work with their manufacturer on the quality issues some others are reporting.

Solid, Great Range of Motion, Whisper Quiet!
I bought this machine to replace another brand of vertical climber. I was very happy for 4 years until the left pedal broke away from its welded mounting 10 days after my 3rd party warranty expired. I wasn’t thrilled to pay nearly 3 times the cost of my junked machine, but as soon as I unboxed it I recognized the CrossClimber to be a substantial upgrade. This unit is about 30 lbs heavier than the previous machine, which translates into a sturdier, more rugged construction. The build is more modular as well, so if any of the parts fatigue, or fail in the future I should be able to replace them instead of junking the whole climber. The CrossClimber fits me better as well. I’m 6’3” and 220’. The handles extend to a max height beyond my reach and the unit is extremely smooth and as I said in my title, it’s whisper quiet. My only negative is, the rollers to move the device into my workout area and back to storage are not a default inclusion. They are a free upgrade furnished upon request via email to the CrossClimber website. However, customer service was quick to respond and I am expecting delivery via USPS in the he next 2 days from the time of writing this review. I probably would have received everything at the same time, but I was unaware until re-reading the product description on the Amazon website. I am very satisfied with my overall experience and recommend the CrossClimber to anyone looking for a total body workout. It’s body weight resistance only, but the challenge is very scalable by effort and work time.

high quality construction, not perfect
Pros: 1. Very solid materials, excellent quality for the price. I was impressed. Good solid pedals and handles. 2. This type of machine does not take much space, and fits nicely tucked in a corner in front of a window. 3. It makes it easy to get in some exercise because I don't have to wear special clothes or worry about the situation outdoors. Cons: 1. This will work best if your body is a specific size. (a) The height of the moving handles is adjustable, but most of the options are for very tall / very long arms. I doubt it would be an issue, though, unless you're very short, since you probably won't be extending to your full range when in use. (b) The console that displays stats is 8.5 inches wide at the top end of where your legs move. This means that unless you naturally duck-walk with splayed knees (yikes), or have very short legs that don't reach that high, the inside of your thighs brush against it with each step -- so definitely not to be done in bare knees. (c) The stationary handles are fixed at only 22 inches away from the pedal when the pedal is up. That means if you're tall or have longer legs than me, and are taking full-range steps, your thigh will slam into the handles. 2. Also, it makes a squeaky sound with each step that you would not get with a gym-quality machine. It's not terrible. Mixed: 1. Assembly was relatively simple, with clear instructions, until I got to the point where they made a HUGE fuss about not opening the support hinge because you'd grievously injure yourself, which I heeded, which led to a lot of swearing and unnecessary (as it turned out) disassembling of a preassembled part, because I could not remove the pin that was just supposed to yank out, it didn't budge at all, and I was convinced they'd cut the hole (which you couldn't see) the wrong size, when really, all I had to do was open the hinge to change how the holes were aligned. 2. It did not come with the wheels mentioned as shipping separately, but I prefer the stability of no wheels. Bottom line: I like it, but your mileage may vary.
