Lonely Planet Paris: Lonely Planet's most comprehensive guide to the city (Travel Guide)

This was a handy little guide. They take each area of Paris piece by piece and you can quickly navigate the key attractions in the area. Very handy indeed, especially if visiting for the first time.

Just what my son wanted

Covers a host of interests with great info / history provided... really great.I would have rated a 5 star if the maps were more detailed... but the biggest omission is a separate, whole map of the metro and RER lines which I consider a must for city travel.

Used this before and after the trip and it was perfect for planning the trip.

It has all you need

The perfect size and right amount of information for a 5 night stay in this city. Love it.

The guide is annoyingly organised with maps at the back in a separate section from the district referred to, so the reader has to flip backwards and forwards to each section. Time Out guides are better at this (I bought the RG as it was the most current post-Covid version available). Also no Metro map, probably the most essential thing a tourist will need. No issues with the actual content or advice but the guide needs restructuring.

This was an excellent guide for a week-long visit to the city. Having a book was handy, as it allowed everyone in our group to see alternate activities and weigh in on plans. Every bit of information we used was accurate, and it gives a range of choices — enough to suit different tastes and budgets. Highly recommend.

Recomendo pra quem quer viajar e aproveitar ao máximo o local. O livro é completíssimo. Vale a pena ter tudo em um lugar só (em vez de pesquisar em vários sites).

Ik koop graag de reisgidsen van Lonely Planet met alle aanbevelingen. Naar mijn idee reiken deze gidsen verder dan de Nederlandse gidsen. Ze zijn erg uitgebreid en zien er heel mooi uit. Je hebt een kaart, algemene tips (bv. vervoer) en de stad wordt per gebied behandeld in hoofdstukken. Per gebied krijg je dan de highlights, attracties, restaurants etc. Dit helpt heel goed met het maken van een eigen planning. Een leuke vind ik de “neighbourhood walks” waarin op een kaartje een wandelroute alvast voor je is uitgestippeld langs de highlights van die buurt. Ook de route in het Louvre en de tips wua welke ingang je het beste kon nemen en welke dag je het beste naar het Louvre kon zijn super handig.Sommige dingen in de gids kloppen alleen niet (bv in die van New York stond dat je gratis naar musea kon, maar daar bleek je wel Amerikaan voor te moeten zijn). Verder zoek ik de restaurant aanbevelingen van de gidsen ook op op Tripadvisor en daar blijken ze dan helemaal niet populair en/of goed beoordeeld ondanks de aanbeveling van Lonely Planet… dat is wel jammer.Tip voor reizigers: met Tripadvisor kan je een reis aanmaken en attracties en restaurants toevoegen per dag voor een mooie planning.
