Favorite Pastels But Delivery Issues with Melting
I love these Crayola pastels, vivid and lovely to work with. But there's a new trend with Amazon drivers leaving fragile merchandise on porches. In case you haven't read the news, we're in an ongoing heat wave everywhere. I've seen it recently more often with deliveries that used to be brought inside the building and even up to my door on the second floor. Unfortunately, these are oil pastels and they melt very easily especially sitting in the back of a hot truck out for delivery. Then the driver just tosses them on the porch of my building directly in the heat so they melted even more. Is this the new normal for Prime delivery?

Depends on what you use it for.
I think these would be great for kids, as well as an adult who just wants something to de-stress with/get in touch with their creative side in a casual format. If you’re at all serious about improving your artwork, though, you will notice the limitations of these pretty quickly. They are on the harder side for oil pastels. You have to press pretty hard to get a decent layer of pigment. I absolutely cannot apply more than 2-3 layers without the next application removing the layers that I’m trying to put it on over. While I can blend one pastel with pressure from another pastel most of the time, I cannot finger blend - it just rubs the pigment right off the page.Despite the limitations, I do enjoy using these - but I don’t expect them to do everything. I also have a set of Mungyo oil pastels (highly recommend), which are much softer; I enjoy layering the Mungyos over the Crayolas, or else using the Crayolas to make my sketch and then using the Mungyos for the actual piece. Because the Mungyos are softer, the layering applies effortlessly without much of any Crayola pigment even getting on my Mungyo pastels. If any of these uses sound appealing to you, or you’re more of a casual artist/brand spanking new beginner, I think these would be worth it. However, if you’re an intermediate artist or above, I wouldn’t use these as your only or even your primary set of oil pastels.

Good entry level
I did my research and these didn’t disappoint me. Sure, they could be creamier and more pigmented but this is for entry level artists. The only downside is that the brand name plays with my mind because I feel like I’m using crayons as art but let me tell you these are NOT crayons, not even close. They are soft and pigmented and that’s what you need to do good art.

Great value for art supplies
Home schooling 4 kids means lots of art supplies. These are a favorite and easy to replace because of their price.

Love these oil pastels.
Great to work with, good selection of colours, layer nicely, not too soft like some of the more lipstick textured pastels. I love working with these. So why only 4 stars? Unfortunately they were not packaged very well and some pastels arrived broken and in need of a clean as colours had cross contaminated. They are fine to use once cleaned up though.

Nice
Very nice colours, both opaque and vibrant.I like the fact that they are chunky and hexagonal.Of the cheap range, one of the best oil pastels. The only downside is the poor packaging.

Blend brilliantly and vibrant colours
My 15 year old art obsessed daughter loves these. She wishes they were less chunky and looked prettier. They look childish. However she has already used these to great effect.

Not bad, but not brilliant.
An average product. Rather fragile. I ordered them because they declared that they were non toxic and many other oil pastels don’t actually put that on their packaging.
