Thought-provoking book
I liked Beauty in Decay II much more than Beauty in Decay [1] for several reasons: 1) there was more variety in locations, not just factory after factory. 2) There were more outside photos so you could put the places in geographical context or see what the decay looked like from the outside, like the failed "atomic age" housing units in Taiwan (neat as they were). 3) Many of the photos were more interesting, thought-provoking, and yes, more fascinating. 4) There wasn't the philosophizing, almost-preachy dogma, over-justification, and self righteousness of the original (I felt like the author was trying to sell me a car). And, 5) The author actually told us something about what we were seeing, sometimes a specific place (a particular dance hall), sometimes a certain kind of place (sanitariums, coal factories, etc.) The photography is amazingly good for being taken in dark, dirty locations, and yet the outside photos were sufficiently dark enough to evoke eeriness and unease. In general, Beauty in Decay II is a high quality, sewn, hard-cover book. If not altered or abused, it should last a very long time, maybe even longer than some library it might end up in.

Urbex Heaven!!!!!!!!!!
Ive always been fasinated by abandoned places. I dont have the resources to be an urban explorer. So books and websits are my guide. I bought Abandoned America: The Age of Consequences. It was good so a week later i scrolled down my wish list and ordered beauty in decay II. This book blows Abandoned America: The Age of Consequences out the water. Wow i will buy the first book Beauty in decay. Many of the places that I've seen online are in this book. So awesome each image echos what once was. If you are new to urbex get this book first!

True beauty in decay
Beautiful imagery just like the first one. If you find decrepit old buildings and eerie scenery to be beautiful, then this book is for you.

Fascinating
This is even better than the first book. Not only are the photographs superb but there's more information in this book and it makes for a fascinating read. Usually coffee table books remain under the coffee table, this one - and its predecessor - are books I return to time and again.

Not as good as 1st edition
Oh no...what's happened to the page layouts? Some great images in this book, but the layouts are nowhere near as beautiful as the first book.Strong pictures, shame about the overall aesthetic.
