That is correct. Once the cloth is wiped over the open sore or compromised skin it leaves a barrier. It's especially useful for the incontinent patient. I was a work call about it's claim but we now buy it by he case.

What are the measurements of an opened wipe?

I don't know the answer to this since we have used them all but they are fairly large & nice size. Bigger than a "baby wipe". My mother swears by them and trust me we are not small women.
