Another great addition to the series following Gryph and his friends
Once again, we follow along with Gryph, and his friends, as they attempt to find Gryph's sister, Brynn. As Carney started off with his first book, he follows along with each and every step of the characters and how they would act and react to each situation. Nothing is glossed over, nothing is shorted. All actions are logical and the mechanics behind the story (game) are reasonable and logical. Carney continues on from his first 3 book with Gryph gaining friends and getting stronger in order to confront his final enemy, the boss of the world. The battle gets hyper as another group from Lex's past comes to the fore and another battle takes place, a battle between Chaos and Order. You can see how things are really starting to ramp up and get... "big". There are more side-stories and side-characters that are re-introduced that opens up the possibility of even more books in the future. I for one am hoping for some side-quest books of some of the side-characters as the backstories laid out by Carney are just that intriguing. The battle at the end comes about pretty easily, almost too easily. But, that's part of the lead up to the idea of "come back later and hit bad guy harder" in his next books. It may sound like you are left hanging, but you are not. Just as you weren't left hanging after books 1, 2, and 3. In the end, we learn that there is a far greater intrigue and a much greater challenge that awaits Gryph and his sister.I for one, can't wait to see how all these strings tie up and we learn how all these plots and characters are all inter-twined.

Fabulous Series
I write very few reviews, For this series, I just had to write a glowing review. I love the litRPG form. In this series, the characters are excellent. The plot is compelling and, so far, straightforward, but I have the feeling it could get more complicated soon. I highly, highly recommend you read this series. I started reading free with prime but then, in thanks to the author for writing them, bought the rest.

Sister, dear Sister
Time to get the family back together. What will it take for Gryph to get to his Sister? What pitfalls await our hero and his band of misfits? Well.. What are you still doing here? Open the book and find out what's going on, go on, shoo!

Made me enjoy reading again!
I got this the Barrow King randomly one day because it was free. I really am not much of a reader and tend to stick to audio books. This book, this series, has reinvigorated my love of reading. So much so that I power read through the whole series without leaving reviews...sorry.If you’re interested in fantasy, or litRPG, then do yourself a favor and give the Barrow King a try! You’ll soon pick up this book as well!!

Great story. Like star wars episode 1.
Lex is Jar Jar. He's running the book. The constant tangents are like being surrounded by children. It's no escape. The rest of the story is great. I'll keep reading, for now. But if lex didn't change soon I don't know how much longer I'll be able to.Obnoxious characters are obnoxious to read, not fun.

Just keeps getting better...
I love the characters, love the plot line, love the interaction and pace of the story...but hate having to wait for the next book to come out! Selfishly speaking, one minute is to long to wait!Honestly, this series has become one for the top shelf where I will be returning to reread. The best part is, by being on my kindle, I'm not going to wear out the spines.

ok book
The book is overall ok. The point that made me give it 3 stars only is that halfway through the book, the little boy thief suddenly shows up with the Makers famous weapon . They didn’t even know where or how to get the weapon, but suddenly it falls in their lap. No logic , not even magic . Just shows up

This is a 5 star book…
normally i read a book of this lengh in 5-6 hours, but Lex as a character is so disruptive and annoying that ive taken that long for a third of this book. And im at the point where Sean is intruduced. So just when i thought about just quitting this series thats amazing in every aspect but this one really bad character a copy of that character joins the party.i love everything about this book and the first 2 in the series besides Lex, i get it nerdy refrences and „funny“ sarcasm are a trope for the companion ais but if half the dialog is „Shut up Lex“ or Lex rambling it just really hurts the flow the story.i really hope Lex experiences character growth otherwise im going to miss out on the rest of a really interesting story.

Awesome series
I’m loving this saga. Sure, the main character is overpowered as all hell, but, in RPG terms, the difficulty level scales with him.As for the audio narration, it’s a pretty valiant effort, but the accents could do with some work, particularly the scots of the dwarves. In my opinion, Vonn’s quasi-cockney is a bad fit for the character.

Starts Slow But Picks Up
This entry started a bit slow but picked up. The scourge made for a powerful villain and needed some thinkyness to overcome which makes for a good read. It's not all hack and slash and looting afterall. We get plenty of that but clever problem solving is nice. We get answers to some questions and it looks like more is going on than previously believed with real world implications. I'm not sure about what's happened to Lex. In his short novel he's a worthwhile character but in this one he's whinier than a teenager. Roaring one minute whining and complaining the next. It's a bit of a letdown for a cool character. A bit of virtue signalling about racism got thrown in, sigh, if I wanted a lecture I'd watch the ABC. It seems that everyone from advertisers to authors to movies feels the need to lecture the audience. On the strength of a otherwise great story I'll be getting the next one.
