Yes it can. I have mine mounted in my canoe directly into the base and it works great. Just make sure your base is the same size pin mount as the seat.

It would help a great deal if someone would post a pic of the bottom section of the item to get an idea on mounting options?

The only option is any basic or universal 4 hole pattern seat mount.

Can I mount this with the existing Triton aluminum boat seat poles?

They easily bolted right on our existing seat posts. No modification needed. Very comfortable for all day fishing. Nice and cool due to the mesh seat and back. I highly recommend these seats.
