Q: Is there any way that the strip of hardware on the front of the bag can be removed without the bag being damaged? (That's the only part I don't like!)

Actually I like the gold hardware on the bag I think you will damage the bag if you try to remove it. I love the bag , roomy, functual, big but not too big and looks great.
