Are these heavy? I want to hang them for a backdrop but I was wondering if they were lightweight or heavy?

Actually they are not that heavy , i think it perfectly works as a backdrop.

Can a 8 year old wear them?

I don't know how large your 8 yr old is. My concern woul be less the size and more about how delicate these are, easily dammaged due to density of feather layers. I only allow my teens, and above, wear them, with careful supervision.

Can it be used for a male angel costume?

Yes, they can. They're very big so they'd also fit well on a male

Do the feathers fall out easily?

Most of the feathers were stuck on well! I did have to hot glue a few back on but for the most part they stayed on well enough for me to use it a second year!
