What’s the difference between X and XF?

Stagg X has a shorter height, which aligns with the traditional pour-over brewing methods of a continuous slow pour and gives you more control over your water dispersal and extraction. We recommend using Stagg X to brew 300ml/10oz of coffee. Stagg XF has a taller column, which allows for a non-traditional “fill-up” method that combines the ease of immersion brewing and the refined taste of a pour-over. We recommend using Stagg XF to brew 600ml/20oz of coffee.

Is there an alternative filter that can fit closely to the XF dripper?

The Kalita 185 filters are the same thing, or close enough. Fellow makes GREAT coffee products (hardware), however, if you plan to create "custom" filters so you can nickel & dime or repurpose Kalita filters, similar to how Dollar Shave Club did the same with Doco razers, brilliant. Just put a similar amount of effort to ensure you have them in stock! I have half a mind to toss my Fellow Pour-Over only, for this reason, half the time I need to use bootleg filters because nothing is available (and this has been going on for some time, so please don't scapegoat the pandemic... it's paper, not microchips)

Does this have any substantial benefits over the Kalita Wave, with which its very similar to, in principle?

Our dripper is vacuum insulated (to retain heat that is normally lost during brewing) and our carafe has a dual wall (so your coffee stays hot longer)!

Is there a reusable metal filter that fits either size of the drippers?

Unfortunately we don't currently offer a metal, reusable filter for the dripper. We did quite a bit of experimentation and decided that the paper filters brewed coffee with better taste and clarity.

The quality of the Matt finish is really bad because it comes off when washing it by hand. Flakes of the color got in the carafe because it’s poor quality color. Seems like a replica because I can’t imagine the original being so poor in terms of quality

I love and swear by this Fellow piece. It's got great quality to it's size. For someone doing a pour over for one, it's perfect. Between the filters (sold separately) and this piece, the pour over is great. I know folks swear by the Vario and other brands, this is equally as good in my humble opinion and I'm not a barista so come at me barista folk. This serves the purpose and if you're like me and enjoy your 3rd wave generation of coffee. This is a piece for you. It's ergonomically designed and stores nicely...My only issue is that ordering filters takes a week in order to arrive through Amazon after you go through the initial 50 or so they offer in the box when you buy it. So plan accordingly.
