Eddie Bauer - Twin Quilt Set, Cotton Reversible Bedding with Matching Sham, Lightweight Home Decor for All Seasons (Madrona Navy/Red, Twin)

I grew up with homemade quilts, sewed by my grandmother and aunts in the Appalachian hills. Those were great, and now that I'm 60 and those great works of art are long gone I thought I'd never see their like again. And I was right (so far). Quilts I've purchased the last 20-plus years just haven't held up, or they had some shortcoming stemming from mass production limitations; there was nothing personal about them. But I took a chance on this one simply because I liked the look, and while it's hardly a homemade gem, it does the job and looks nice, too.The patchwork look is just that -- a look. This is not a real patchwork quilt with individual pieces sewn together. But it is a solid quilt, and even a little thicker than I was expecting. I've spent most of my life in Michigan, and this stands up to our winters just fine. It's also a little larger than I expected. (I bought the queen/full size.)One pleasant surprise is that the flipside is not some drab off-white or pea green "color." It's actually a pleasant dark blue with a maroon and white pinstripe pattern crisscrossing it.It is 100 percent cotton and feels like it. I've washed it a couple times, and it holds up well. You shouldn't wash quilts very often, maybe once a month or every other month. Some only wash them teo or three times a pear. This quilt seems like it can handle your routine as long as you don't push the envelope too much.I was not expecting this from Eddie Bauer. I really thought I'd be looking for another quilt after I got through winter. But I think this one will be here a while.

We both like plaids and had looked at another brand of quilt that was more expensive. I kept looking and found this Eddie Bauer Madrona quilt set for much less and it looked nicer, at least in the pictures. When it arrived, we were happy to see it looked just as great as the pictures. It's not too heavy but provides nice warmth for year-round use. We add a blanket on very cold nights. The fabric looks like a twill. This is not a true patchwork quilt. The patchwork design is printed rather than sewn together, then there is cross-hatch quilting across the whole thing. We love it and it looks great on our bed.

Purchased this for my 12-year-old sons bedroom. We wanted to bring in some other colors as his room was largely navy and white. It was the perfect solution. The fabric is a bit stiff and canvas-like but we are layering it with sheets and a comforter so that was not the most important factor. I also wonder if it will soften over time with more washing and fabric softener. It may not be the most comfortable thing if you plan to sleep with it directly on your skin with nothing in between. I washed it once and it turned out great, no need to iron. The colors are navy, red, off-white, olive green, mustard yellow/gold. Good quality. Not quite Pottery Barn but probably similar to something you’d find at Home Goods or Bed Bath and Beyond. Also, we bought the Full/Queen size and it’s a perfect fit for his Full Size bed (I prefer extra length all around.

I have a Pottery Barn version of this quilt that I bought about 8 years ago and wanted to replace it. I stumbled upon this quilt on Amazon and thought I’d try it out since my other son has an Eddie Bauer quilt and it’s held up well. The Pottery Barn quilt might be a tiny tad bit higher quality but, for the price, this is still a nice quilt and It looks fabulous.

Great quilt for my freshman grandson's dorm room......like that the quilt's filling is cotton and pleased that the quilt's plaid fabric is a cotton-poly blend because it will hold up to 4 years of dorm life. I see that the quilting is not separately sewn pieces as on a classic handmade quilt like the kind my grandmama pieced years ago but the solid quilted will hold up so much better for my dear college freshman.......so well please with the quilt's looks, quality and affordable pricing........

I am updating my review to let other buyers know that the chemical smell did come out but took some work. Washing this quilt did not do anything but I soaked it overnight in the washing machine with a box of baking soda and about a cup of Soda Crystals. After rinsing the quilt twice, it came out of the dryer smelling fine. I made sure to buy a quilt made of cotton but this quilt is not soft like cotton. However, I am writing this review because the quilt smells like chemicals even after three washes. Now some of the padding between the top and bottom layer has bunched up which would not happen if a normal washing had been enough. After it dried I hung it over my dining table to air out becuase it still smelled and left it overnight. I made the bed this morning and the room has reaked all day. There is no way I can sleep with that until it smells normal and I have no idea when that will happen. I also want to mention to buyers to check the quilt before washing as there is a piece of cardboard and some kind of paper inside. I did not notice the paper and the quilt was covered in little pieces. Most of it came off the front but the back it's stuck on. The quilt looks great and is lightweight and well made, but the smell is unacceptable. I hope the company does something about this.

Love these comforters from Eddie Bauer. Have purchased 3 now. 98%cotton, only 2%polyester in the lining. Washes and dri s quickly, softer after each wash.
