Review: Impressive Results! - No birds or poop since I got this item. I only have smaller birds on my balcony and Ilike that it will not hurt them if they get hit by it (it stops really quick with a very low torque motor). I also bought higher capacity AA rechargeable batteries as the ones shipped are all but useless and won't last half a day in poor sunlight! The trick here for people that do not have much sun is to buy 2500mAh AA rechargeable batteries and a charger. Put recharged batteries in each day and your unit will run all day and night no problem! I added a few white ribbons on the end of the arms which I found scared the birds way even more. Very happy, bought another for my rear balcony. Great device!

Actually works to keep pigeons and birds from landing on my AZ backyard spa/pool deck.
I purchased two of them (one originally and then another a few weeks later since the first one worked so well). It has been approximately ~1.5 years since I've had them and they are still working fine. I used them on my attached spa to pool sitting travertine decks since this is where the birds/pigeons were landing/resting on (a lot of bird excrement). The two spinning bird deterrents has been keeping the birds off this backyard area. At least for my use, I was so happy they actually worked. The solar panels keep the spinners active from dawn to dusk (in sunny Arizona) when the birds are active. The only drawback is that two out of four original reflective strips/tapes at the ends of the spinners have deteriorated. I have a separate extra reflective strip roll on hand (remember I have a pigeon/bird problem) so it was not a big deal to replace the strips. In addition, I really think it would still work for me without the reflective strips because I believe the actual spinning telescoping arms are keeping the birds from landing. Overall happy with the product because it works for my application. I don't know how long they will last in the Arizona heat and dust year after year so I'm likely going to purchase more to replace the ones I have when they eventually don't work. Remember that these are mechanical systems with a motor that will eventually break down. The price is kind of expensive but I haven't found an alternative solution with this much success.

Poor quality and over priced for only running for 20 min in direct sunlight
Good idea, but poor quality. For 50 dollars expected a higher quality product. Don’t waste your money. Charged it for a day and a half in the Arizona sun. Turned it on and it wouldn’t work unless It was in the brightest direct sunlight and it required me to manually spin the blades to get it spinning. Then only ran for about 20 min and stopped. Solar cell doesn’t generate enough power to spin motor, plus rechargeable batteries seem to be bad.
