It comes with attached 3/8 inch compression fittings to connect to standard flexible water supply hoses.

What if I just need the washers for the handles? Where do i buy them?

Home Depot has them but take an old one in to match

Cold water handle leaks around the base. Is this defective or do I need to tighten something?

Mine didn't leak, and also didn't require tightening anything extra. Sounds like a defect but I'm no plumber.
