A Comedy of Errors of Diamond Smuggling
This is the most Americanized film I have seen yet coming out of Bollywood. The actors spoke almost 100% English (I didn't even need the subtitles, go figure). It was full of American-style foul language, including plenty of the f-bomb to go around. It also had plenty of literal potty humor, too, but it was well-placed; the potty humor wasn't sophomoric, it was actually one of the plot points in this comedy of errors as one of our "heroes" has a suspected case of food poisoning. The plot surrounds three twenty-something lads and a girl who all unwittingly get involved in a failed diamond smuggling scheme. The story is full of laughs and is tightly knit; it unfolded as it should without being contrived or forced.I thought it was a very entertaining comedy, though of course I can see if offending some so be warned. I think its intended audience for my children's generation rather than my own.I was really just watching this in order to see Aamir Khan as Disco Fighter. Turned out I had to wait all the way to the end, but it was worth the watch through the movie to get there. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Warning: I hate you, like I love you will become your earworm of the day.

Modern Bollywood
Many in the US have never seen a "Bollywood" movie. Yet India produces many moremovies than the US does, and millions of people watch them. There are certain standards to be a successful Indian film. For example, no kissingfurther than on the cheek. No nudity; no sex scenes. No really foul language. And,you've gotta have a musical number or two. This film transcended usual Bollywood, pushing a little past the usual conventions(not too far, I might add) and has a great sense of humor. It just might be a betterportrayal of modern India than a lot of what passes for non-fiction. One can seethe aspirations of young, well-educated Indians to find an opportunity to find notonly a job but a career; to break into at least the middle class if not higher; and thestruggle between traditional values and the modern world.Three young roommates are barely scraping by to pay the rent on their apartmentwith all their jobs combined. The lead character among the three is engaged tobe married to a woman from a much wealthier family [but you can tell from thestart, it isn't really going to work, she's not really his type]. Inadvertently (pottyhumor and all) a shipment of drugs from supplier to high-level distributor endsup in their hands, and then without even realizing what they have, it's out oftheir hands once again. Then along come thugs, sent to collect the drugs andmost likely, kill them regardless. What a pickle! This being a comedy, you know they have to make it through somehow. Thismovie is fun and engaging. I especially liked the big musical number in themiddle [representing one roommate's dreams of being a big star] which wassheer fun to watch. Give it a try!

Over the top and hilarious.
If you enjoy slapsticky comedy do yourself a favor and watch this. I was laughing a lot and loudly. A few of the jokes can be a bit puerile but that doesn't detract from the movie as a whole.

Hilarious and great movie! Loved the sense of humor
Hilarious and great movie! Loved the sense of humor. Very modern and new humor and different for Indian cinema. It pushed the envelope forward in terms of cinema.

This respectable middle-aged lady loved it.
A rowdy, raunchy, irreverent romp. Be prepared to be utterly grossed out while you can't stop laughing. This respectable middle-aged lady loved it.

The Best of Bollywood
Delhi is masterfully written, acted and directed. The score keeps you in the movie and it works. This is not highbrow humor. Rather it is like a well made Indian HANGOVER. As an amateur film critic, I enjoy this regularly!

Funny movie
My husband and I enjoyed this a few years ago as a rental. He quoted it recently and I had to get a copy to have in our library. Just as funny the second time!

Fantastic movie
Really brilliant movie. Has all the elements of both the quintessential Bollywood tamasha as well as enough serious content to make it stand out. Excellent storyline, unbelievable acting, overall fantastic.

Refreshingly funny film
I had no idea Bollywood produced such funny films and ones that weren't four hours long with clichéd song and dance routines. It has similarities to Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch and as such is probably not best for family viewing though it is a very funny film. The version edited for TV (Asian channels on UK satellite service) is butchered heavily to the point of being unwatchable so the DVD version is thoroughly recommended. The DVD has soundtracks in English and Hindi though it's probably worth watching with subtitles. If there are more films like this then my Bollywood collection may well expand beyond the few Amitabh Bachchan classics tucked away at the back of the shelf.

What a surprise!
My teenage son asked for this DVD, ordered it and decided to watch it with the whole family. Needless to say, we laughed and laughed over the mishaps and misunderstandings of friends and foes. Just wonderfully absurd.

Fantastic release, worth buying!
I never knew DVDs could come in jewel cases too! This one was a massive surprise in that regard, and offered the desired audiovisual quality for collection. As someone who loved the film on Netflix, I had to get this disc. I had to ask the seller Pritam Music in advance about the DVD case, as one review mentioned it came in a standard plastic case too. Learning it indeed came in a jewel case, I ordered the disc and it arrived before ETA. It also has some good extras to look out for, though the sound pitch drops a bit when you play any of the promos or songs, which creates an unintentionally funny effect if you understand sound. Still, the main feature is untouched and sharp in terms of quality. You get audio in Hinglish original as well as dubbed Hindi languages. There are bonus music videos too. What else could a Delhi Belly fan ask for? Just buy the thing!
