It will be a little thick. The thickness is about two standard keys stashed.

No. It is a soft wood. It would end up bowing and splitting. This is a craft type wood.

Is this true baltic birch plywood or just baltic birch on the outer layers like sold at the Big Box stores? How many layers?

No. It is Russian Baltic Birch. Veneer on the front and back with plywood in the center. A total of 3 layers. The label reads as follows: Material: Russian Baltic Birch Plywood. Grade: B/BB top grade available with clear face (no patches) and allowable patches on the back. I found the product to be adequate for my needs; building a diorama.
