K&N 69-6502TR Washable and Reusable Car Performance Intake Kit

I read all the reviews before purchasing. This product DOES NOT fit without modification. Specifically, the heat shield. Brackets used to secure shield do not line up with pre-existing air box factory holes. AND...BUY BIGGER HOSE CLAMPS...I still love all their products, that's why I still gave 4 stars. I sent the email a few days ago to K&N and haven't heard anything back about replacing the bent cone. I wouldn't care, except this isn't cheap. To be continued..

I love the performance, but not a easy install. First I had seen that the hose clamps were too small so I bought larger ones before I started. the back z mount needed to have a new hole in the box to fit. The l bracket going to the tube would not line up, being further away would have been better than real close but not working. The biggest problem is that my car has a automatic transmission and the dip stick is under the box and almost touching, I drilled a 1 1/4" hole in the box to get at it there should be a removable peace there to accommodate the dip stick. Next the air inlet duct went into the box and was touching the filter this had to be cut. Finally my car a 2007 eclipse convertible with auto transmission has a air inlet in the bottom of the box that is ducted down and to the front by the bumper, I have not connected this yet but I plan on removing the box and making a cut out, the more air the better.

As a long time k&n user, I had no problems deciding to use this intake. As other reviewers stated, two of the hose clamps included were too small and I had to buy some. I also had no luck getting the heat shield mounted in the car. I decided to leave it out for now. I plan to try again later and probably make some small modifications to the mounting z brackets to get it to fit. As far as the actual performance of the intake, absolutely love it! I can definitely feel the added torque and the intake noise when the mivec system kicks in is amazing. The looks of the engine bay is greatly improved. I will get the heat shield installed, but only 4 stars because of the clamps and install issues. Overall the performance is awesome and I would buy another in a heartbeat!

I wanted to mention just that, mine came with 4 clamps all too short to use. Had to baby the car to parts store with it all unclamped to buy ones that would fit.For the price you would thin they would have fit. And the instructions are not great.
