Yes! It's easy to loosen two hex bolts and slide the antenna stem off of the neck base. We do it all of the time as a part of loving both bikejoring and serious solo mountain biking. No, because of the built in spring on the antenna. The antenna will bend so that you can control your handlebars independently.

Q: Has anyone attached this to a Schwinn kick bike? Does it fit alright?

i have and no it dont fit you will have to take some pvc pip and cut in on one side and place it on then the antenna after its tightened its ok i still have mine on the bike and my husky does fine with it just make it tight.
