Q: Several reviews state a few bottles are missing from th kit. Do you have to buy them separately?

I bought my kit two years ago and everything was in it. As I get low I reorder the bottles from amazon as my local pool store does not carry the reagents and if they do it’s very minimal

Q: Why does this kit have strong smell? The kit itself has a very strong odor. Is this normal? Why is it so smelly?

I have no ideal why you kit smells. Check the make sure nothing is spelt inside of it. My kit has no smell.

Q: How long does a kit last? Obviously depends on how often you test but let’s say you test weekly - how long until you have to buy a new one?

Certain tests do not have to be done weekly. Some tests require to use more of the test reagents than others. So some test reagents will run out before others. Replacement reagents can be ordered directly from Taylor Technologies when supply is depleted. Recommend ordering before a reagent is completely gone. Recommend re-stocking the test kit with new reagents at the start of every swim season.

Q: Is this for only saltwater pools?

Some of the tests are universal [pH, CYA, hardness] for any pool, but the chlorine test is specifically for saltwater pools.
