Perfect Bell Work!
I own pretty much all these books-haven't gotten Grade 6+ yet, and I would recommend to any teacher. A lot of kids really struggle with being able to define a word-they can use it in a sentence-but giving it a definition is tough. I teach Special Ed. and have a new word posted each morning for each student I teach and they must come in read the word in the sentence and try to write a definition based on the context clues then they ask me if it is a good definition and we discuss words they are struggling with more. Then there are 5 (generally) yes or no questions for that word, and then a short question/prompt at the bottom that they can answer in a few sentences. 4 words per week with a review page at the end of each week to make sure they are remembering those words.

i like the concept
i like the idea of introducing new words to kids but, i wonder about the retention of the words. do kids actually use them. but atleast they learn new words.

Good book.
I bought this to complete our 4th grade year. Previously used wordly wise this year. My son has enjoyed it. We don't use it one word a day we do 4 words a day so we can finish out the year. I would recommend especially if you child doesn't like spelling.

Looks like a good text to really increase students' vocab
This book is good for my almost-5th grader, although she already knew half of the words. I like the definitions and the many writing assignments. There is one page in every week (good exercises, too) that gives away the answers. What a waste! No point, and no excuse for that!
