The Odyssey: A Play

A faculty member suggested we get this to compare with a previous purchase to create a new performance.

It’s fine but feels needlessly modernized when it doesn’t make any sense to modernize this story. And it doesn’t even consistently modernize the story.

Zimmerman's onstage recreation of this text is a marvel. Having seen it staged in 2000, I finally contacted the author in 2014 and was delighted to find it had been published. The entire interpretation is brilliant, but the Sirens rise to the level of genius. Anyone with a theatrical bone in their* body will love this.*Intentional.

I actually bought this for my daughter, who is using it for a college drama class. She adores classic literature so she is really enjoying it both for it's classic tale and for the class she is in.

Breathtaking. Zimmerman is a genius. Only wish I could have seen it. See her work any chance you get. My students read it, and LOVED it (a lot more than the original text) and really got into acting it.
