Travel wide and west – this machine is the best!
Ask even people in Boulder City, they will tell you that this Hoover really is a dam good machine! It really sucks! The only thing in life that should! No, seriously, this is a great household carpet cleaner, especially for those of us who have kids, pets, or have accidents. Don’t be a dairy farmer and cry over spilt milk – just suck it up! - but use this Hoover SmartWash Vacuum carpet cleaner wisely.I got the best results by first using an ordinary vacuum cleaner – a Hoover or “any other dam machine” with a rotating carpet brush or so to pick up leaves, twigs, mud, and/or any other form of loose dirt. Then run this carpet cleaner with the correct dosage of carpet cleaning solution in the water supply tank and do that for a few 5 passes or so. Proceed to press the dry run button – press long and firmly – the button is on the left side of the cleaner at the top, and it turns green when you run the cleaner on the dry setting with the dry run dirty water vacuum return pickup button activated - which you will know is on when a green light shines in the on/of-button. When shing green - only the dry vacuum function is working, sucking back up any remaining water in your carpet, with both your forward and backward movements of the carpet cleaner. This vacuum cleaner picks up water from your carpet in the full width of the clear (double-sided clear plastic and removable) front cover. You can observe the recycled water as it mixes with air, showing in the front cover as a whitish, slightly tiny bubbles fluid racing through the removable front cover, moving up from the carpet & floor and being focused in the center of the cover. You can observe this return water both when you use the dry-vacuum-only function and when you use the default combined wet & dry function on movement back and forward until all removable water is gone from your carpet. So, when no more water can be extracted from your cleaning area, you are either done, or if some dirt and discoloration remain, then run the carpet cleaner on the wet-&-dry function and the only-dry cycles again. The default wet-cycle function is really a combined wet-&-dry cycle as you dispense water with cleaning solution on the forward motions of the carpet cleaner and do suck most of it back up on the backward motions of the carpet cleaner. If the carpet cleaner rises in revolutions, so an obviously higher rate of engine revolutions and accompanying sound can be heard, that is your clue to know, that the front cover has been dislodged and an air leak is present in the vacuuming up of recycled cleaning water from the floor or carpet, which will prevents most of the water vacuum recycling from happening. If this happens, stop and turn off your carpet cleaner – use the red foot pedal-button on the left side of the carpet cleaner to turn off (and on) and reset the front cover, as your carpet cleaner now has lost most of its water vacuuming capability and needs the front cover reset fully straight and perfectly lodged in flush in both sides and in both in the front and the back - to be in full operating order of maximum vacuum.I actually placed two pieces of clear shipping tape over the edges of the front end of the front cover over to the carpet cleaner's main body sides to prevent this dislodging of the front cover with a resulting leak in the vacuum function. This clear tape-fix seemingly works well, does not show much, and really is a cheap fix on a design flaw that keeps your carpet cleaner working as intended at all the times with its maximum capacity to water vacuum. When you need to remove the front cover, just remove the tape and proceed as per the rest of the manufacturer's directions. This Hoover should be the only thing in your life that really sucks! Dirt, water, and anything dissolved in it – but do not use on flammables liquids, acids, or similar chemical fluids!Don't leave dirty water in the recycling tank! Unlike wine, it does not improve with time!End of rhyme.

I LOVE using this thing to clean the house!
I’d been thinking about getting a carpet cleaner for over a year but kept putting it off because I didn’t think I really needed one. I finally caved after a drink spill on my living room rug wouldn’t come out—and honestly, this might be the best purchase I’ve made in a long time.Setup was super simple—no measuring, no fuss—and the cleaning solution is pretty cheap. Within five minutes of using it, I was shocked at how much dirt and grime it pulled out of my carpets. Stuff I didn’t even know was there, and if I had, I would’ve bought this way sooner.Since then, I’ve been using it every other week, and every time it pulls out dust and debris my regular vacuum just can’t touch. It works really well, feels solidly built, is easy to clean afterward, and doesn’t take up much space. The handheld attachment is a game-changer too—I’ve started using it on furniture and dog beds, and it visibly makes a difference!10/10 would recommend. If you’re on the fence, just get it. You’ll be glad you did!

This is gonna be in depth..
I consider myself somewhat of a Hoover Steam Vac expert. I think I have owned damn near EVERY machine these people have put out by way of steam vacs. This one, by far has the BEST set up. My steam vacs tend to last about 5 years... but man o man, I use them to death! I have a little dog, and my kids all have dogs. And well, when you have a dog, your bound to have accidents. The latest purchase on Nov 21, 2023 is again the pet vac...What I Love:1.) Easy to clean. ★★★★★ (Nov 21, 2023 - still true and even better with the removable brushes and the new crap catcher basket in the dirty water tank. NO MORE BREAKDOWN OF THE SCREENS!)Let's face it. The older models are a colossal pain in the a$$ to keep clean. This one comes apart and rinses with ease. The grimy sand and silt from the carpet do not have to be left in place to harden into sludge cement. And the screen - easily available to keep clean RIGHT IN THE CATCH TANK. #genius2.) Double brush bars. ★★★★★ (Nov 21, 2023 - Still TRUE!)These cleaned my cut loop and Berbers like a d-r-e-a-m. And to be clear, my Berbers are over 24 years old (now a few years older). My cut loop is almost 15 years old. Not to worry I am working on new flooring in the very near future, but this did breathe a ton of life back into them.I was skeptical at first with the bars. I thought it would be two more bars that I would have to wrestle out of place ... I have two small dogs (now ONE dog, and only 6.5 lbs). Can I just say, there wasn't a hair on the bars? Yeah... not one. So I may, or may not, update this in the future. But so far, WOW. #stillskeptical3.) The soap, clean water, and catch tanks are easy to lift out, and put back in. ★★★★★ (Nov 21, 2023 - STILL TRUE)This is where I think they hit it out of the park. In the past, if there was an issue with the soap tank, I had to replace the whole thing. I thought it would smoke through the soap lickety-split. It didn't. IDK why but I love them being onboard independently.4.) Detachable housing ★★★★★This is a nod to item one... this also lifts out and rinses easily giving open access to the brushes and the grim within it that can be easily wiped away with a rag. They were thinking when they did this. #genius☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ THE CONS ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆Now let's talk about the cons.1.) The Suction. ★★★☆☆ - I am bumping this to FIVE stars!!! ★★★★★I'm going to say this sucks a whole lot more than the last one, and in a very good way. Definite improvement! It's average. I find it hard to believe that Hoover can't come up with a motor that has amazing suction that won't weigh a ton and will withstand the corrosive ability of water and metal. Is the suction bad? No. Is it great? no. Could it better? I think so. A lot better. It doesn't do anymore or less than my past machines.Although it says dry, what it really means is it ain't pukin' any more water into the carpet. It does have an onboard button where you can run the suction only with no water. That feature is one I will use a lot. So, its an option. Good stuff!2.) The cord. ★★★☆☆ Still the same. IDK why they can't put a longer cord...another 5 feet would be nice.Although I feel like this cord is a bit longer than the last model I purchased and still use, I want to ask "Is there a cord shortage in the world?" Put a freakin cord on the machine. A long one. 20' - 25' at a minimum.☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ The Conclusion ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆I have tried Bissels, and other brands. Hoover for me is the go-to Steamer just because its made sturdier. Bissell is cheaply made and not made to last. I have never had any luck with them. I won't even give 'em a go anymore. This machine performed as I expected it to. It did not out-perform any of the past Hoovers I have owned with the exception of one. (THIS IS NO LONGER TRUE! This one out performs!) I expected a damp carpet, and it was damp when I was done. In Minnesota, I will steam carpets in the winter just to add humidity to the air. So this is not a deal-breaker for me.Where it shines for me, is the ease of keeping that sucker clean which should equate into longevity. The weight of the machine is light - I have an incredibly bad back and this is doable. The brushes did a fabulous job of really working the stains and pulling them up (I hate the circular brushes - cleaning them out was a huge pain.)Would I recommend to a friend? Yep, I would. Would I buy again? Yep. For me the price point was good. I have paid as much as $400 for a machine back in the day. These machines have allowed me to extend the life of my carpets throughout the years.☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Recommendation ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆I do have ONE recommendation... I would like to see Hoover put a MOLD warning on their machines and offer a mold solution so folks don't get sick. I have been de-molding my house for a few months now, and have seen great health improvements - especially to my blood sugar, and cognitive function. We replaced the carpeting in our bedroom and discovered a mold farm in the subflooring so now all of it is coming out, and we will seal the subflooring.Hoover, be responsible... care about your consumers, and offer a product that will safely kill ALL mold as folks clean - or better yet, just put it into your shampoos. I now add mold killer to every tank of water I put down. I'm not giving up my little dog... and my hubby won't give up the carpet in our bedroom or family room. The solution - tell people how to prevent mold from growing in the subflooring of their home so they don't get sick.Still a devoted customer from Hutchinson MN.
