Apple Smart Battery Silicone Case (for iPhone 7) - Black

Love this thing. The case battery and internal iPhone battery keeps me going all day. Understand there are several reviews complaining about the "rubbery stickiness" of the case. So there is a trade-off. A mophie is smooth and slippery, whereas the iPhone case is rubbery and does not slip in and out of your shirt pocket very easily; I've adapted - I open my pocket wider and it drops in versus slipping in. My experience, rubbery stickiness is a good thing!!! The reason I purchased this case is because I had a mophie on my iPhone 6 and I bumped into a door jam. The phone slipped right out of my hand and fell face-down on a tile floor and the glass shattered; so much for the mophie protective case. I replaced the iPhone 6 with a 7 and bought this case. Why I like it v mophie: 1. It doesn't slip out of your hand 2. The rubber side walls wrap around the glass and come up about 1mm higher than the mophie. In a fall I would expect better protection. 3. The battery level of the battery case is displayable on the iPhone 4. It has a lightning connector. I hate the one-side micro-USB connector as it's hard to tell on a lot of devices which side is wider; so I am constantly flipping the cable over and over trying to find a fit... But consider that the complaint about the rubbery stickiness is a valid tradeoff. Yes it doesn't slide very easily into a shirt pocket; you just have to get used to opening your pocket a bit wider. But beyond that, you can't go wrong with this case.

This was my second time purchasing one of these cases. After 9 to 12 months you will notice the silicone starts to peel and the extra battery doesn’t charge as much as it did when you initially purchased it however to have the double battery life for close to a year from purchase date is pretty good considering your diminishing having to charge your phone multiple times throughout the day without this case. I read a lot of the reviews and people were complaining that after many months of use there was wear or malfunction. This is Going to occur with almost any new item you buy when constant use takes place over time. All and all this is an excellent case, I’m about to Buy my 3rd one.

This is a great product that comes in handy daily. It's very easy to manage and seems to be very durable. The only drawback is that it charges your phone immediately once you put your phone in it. This is problematic because if you start using it earlier in the day (even if your phone is already on 100%) it will still charge it and run out of battery by the end of the day unless you charge it sometime during the day. For someone who uses their phone pretty frequently, this can still lead to your phone dying because the battery will be drained after a few hours usage and then your phone will start to lose battery normally vs. you letting your phone battery go down and then using the battery pack to charge it back up. I think maybe a button or even a sensor that knows when your phone is below 20% would be helpful because it doesn't make sense to charge a phone at 100%, which could lower the phone's battery life as well. Otherwise, the case is great, feels great, and protects the phone from drops due to the rubbery outer exterior. I would still invest in a glass screen protector though.

I just ordered and received my second Apple Battery Case for my iPhone 8. My first one actually did very well for almost two years but admittedly the outside layer started peeling off and the upper left side of the case tore around the volume buttons and the top left corner. The battery did very well for me but with the tear that just developed, I ordered a replacement due to the appearance. Overall I’ve been pleased with the case enough to order a second one. The look and feel are great but I do wish the case would last longer as I take good care of the case. The fact the case battery life displays on the iPhone along with the case and phone charging from the one lightning cable is a big plus. Maybe two years is the most someone should expect from a battery case but Apple should find more durable material for their cases.

I had been putting off buying any kind of case charger because I wanted to continue using lightning connectors. I would lug around an extra power brick and a cable and that just became a hassle. I finally decided over all the cases to get this one, and boy am I ever glad I did! I’m a power user and am constantly on my phone at work. My phone battery required charging in the middle of the day. I would have to drag along my brick and my cable or plug in the phone at the job. What a hassle! This eliminates that all together. Here it is 4:00 pm and my phone is still on 100%. What?? Yes it went all day without using the phone battery just the smart battery! Amazing! The great thing about this case as it integrates with the iPhone 7 and you can see both battery statuses on the control center. When you charge the phone it charges both batteries too. What could be more convenient! Glad I got this my days of dragging around a brick are over!

I have been using battery cases on iPhone many, many years. Usually Mophie branded but have also used the various Chinese branded battery cases, dozens of different ones over this time period. My latest decision, because I couldn't find a decent option from Mophie or China for the iPhone SE, I opted to spend an egregious amount of cash for the "Apple" experience. This Apple smart battery case is by far the most frustrating and defective case I have ever had. It will randomly stop charging, sometimes an hour after plugging in, sometimes 10 seconds, sometimes my phone will continuously "ding" every few seconds because it can't decide what to do. There is absolutely NO consistency to the issue. On top of that it may start charging then begin to DISCHARGE both the case and the phone overnight. I get to wake up with my phone off and completely drained. $100 DOLLARS for this? And here's the fun part, the official "fix" for this broken charging behavior, charge the phone and the case separately. Yep have to do it every time the battery drains, GENIUS... So I have this horrendously expensive smart case that can't actually be attached to the phone in order to charge it.... Apple finds this acceptable I guess? The official Apple battery case.. Drum roll... HAS COMPATIBILITY ISSUES WITH IPHONES Unfortunately for me Apple recalled this battery case, specifically for the shenanigans I described above, but only if you have the "latest model" iPhone. It doesn't matter if your phone is new, it has to be the flagship big expensive one. They are upselling a cheap disposable device that should have never made it to market. It is a blatant scam, a design and engineering failure. Guess I should have known better.

I’ve never bought a case for my phone before, But I decided that I’m going to stick with my iPhone 7 for while and thought that my phone needed some more battery life. This case is easy to hold and very comfortable. The case is always charging the phone and keeping it at 100%. When the case dies then it allows the phone to use phone battery. When you start charging the case and it has 0% it immediately begins to charge your phone keeping it self at 0% until the phone is Fully charged. It’s also faster a charging a phone then an iPad charger and gives me a total of 220% battery life. One of the best features however, is the fact that now my iPhone 7 is wireless charging compatible because of the case!

Any heavy phone user needs the extra battery power. The case is slightly bulkier than a traditional phone case, because it does have another phone battery built in. I did not mind this look and feel, but I did have to get used to it at first. The rubber case has a good, slip-resistant feel; however, in my experience with two different cases, it begins to come apart at the corners over time. If it happens before 1 year, then the Apple product warranty will cover it.

I spend my days in the office and sometimes things get hectic. This case feels like it's well made and I basically don't have to charge my phone other than plugging it in when I go to bed. I feel like my review would be different given the cost if it didn't work as well as it does but so far no complaints.
