Not very good for sensored BLDC, needs manual spin to start motor
I've connected this as described to a scooter BLDC motor. Regardless of the speed set on the potentiometer I hooked up to the VR pin (and +5V and GND), the motor will not start spinning until I start it by hand. After I get it spinning manually, the pot will control the speed, until I reduce speed slow enough to stop, after which I can't restart it without another manual spin. This is unacceptable, especially for a sensored motor controller and makes it useless, hence the one star rating. I have purchased a similar but sensorless controller from another source and that one works flawlessly with the same motor. And yes, the Hall sensors in my motor have been hooked in correct order to the board.

Easy to short
I bought two of these to pair with some brushless DC hall motors. The board quality is acceptable and both boards worked when attached between a raspberry pi zero and the motors.I accidentally set one on a small metal rod but didn't notice it before powering the board and it immediately shorted out. It was entirely my fault but disappointing I was able to short it so easy.

It is working well.
It is working but no PRECISE description how output frequency/voltage is produced.Adding a proper cooler is difficult because you have to bend the transistors therefor minus one Point.Other: the control header have 1/10" pitch, the power header are 5mm (not 5.08 or 2/10"). The 5 V on the Header is an OUTPUT for a potentiometer or other use. Do not feed it with 5V

Hard to find a genuine supplier. Poor quality products from Geek Teches
This is the 5th merchant that I purchased the DC 12V-36V 500W Brushless Motor Controller Hall Motor board. 4 of them are dead on arrival. It's hard to find a genuine merchant. They are all from the same manufacturer "Geek Teches" and more than likely not tested for quality. Amazon is great in product returns and I am very happy with it, but my timeline is under serious pressure due to the back and forth with these boards.

Avoid
Not worth the moneyOn a small bldc motor it took trial end error to wire up the hall sensors properly then once it was, it severely lacked torque. Motor ran cool but this board really needed more cooling than I could give it.

Probably best bang for the buck brushless controller
Works surprisingly well. Seems quiet and efficient and easy to set up.

Five Stars
I was building a robot and needed this works great I have no complaints.
