Are they really 52 pieces? I see on coments that comes one package of 24 and most of them are good the rest are half of them are flat on one side.

It actually 2 packs in the box, it is also best that once you open the packs to keep them out for 24 hours before installing that way they can expand. I have had them on the wall since I bought them and also bought 52 more and they also have been up since purchased.

How much does this product dampen the sound in a room? And does it help eliminate reverb?

If you're trying to control a broad frequency range including lower frequencies, or trying to soundproof a space, these aren't what's you're looking for. However, if you are trying to take some high frequency out of the room, great for making a more neutral recording or getting rid of that small room/boxy sound, these work. It's a low density open cell foam of good quality. If you are trying to neutralize the reverb from a room, find your flat, hard surfaces (especially if there are parallel to another flat, hard surface like a wall) and hang a few of these. With enough coverage, the difference should be quite noticeable.

How well does this do for 15-16khz blocking?

They cut the echo in a room, they don't make a room completely soundproof they make it less noisy; it takes thicker panels to absorb the more sound.
