Crystal Power, Crystal Healing: The Complete Handbook

There is a reason why not every crystal is listed in the book - because the first 200 pages teaches each of us how to not rely on other people's crystal prescriptives and that includes Michael Gienger's. If we read and understand the first 200 pages, we don't *need* MG to tell us what the healing properties of any crystal are. This book and his methodology EMPOWERS us to not need a go-between or a guru to work with crystals and I will be forever grateful to Michael Gienger, may he rest in peace, for bringing this knowledge to us. I called this book a TEXTBOOK and here's why: For those of us not content with accepting other people's subjective experiences alone to learn about the potential healing properties of minerals, this book provides a way for each of us to realize any mineral's properties on our own, without a crystal prescriptive book or crystal guru.Regardless of its publication date (not updated since 1996?) CPCH remains the BEST and only book I know of from which to learn and teach Michael Gienger’s approach - working with the physical aspects of a crystal to determine its healing properties. If crystals can speak to one person, can't they speak to all of us who are sensitive to them? Then why do we need crystal prescriptive books? Why do we keep relying on other people - 3 or 4 well-known metaphysicians - for information?

A worthwhile addition to your crystal healing books. The first 100 pages are a combination of scientific information about crystal structures and then his extrapolation about the healing effects of crystal family shapes and mineral elements. This part of the book is unique. The last 200 pages are about individual stones/crystals and their healing properties. Which he outlines in terms of their spiritual, mental, emotional and physical effects. The pictures are well done. What would have improved the book....1. A match between the front index and the pages. (The front index is alphabetical the crystal/stonelistings are not....for instance Fossilized Wood, is listed under F in the index, but in the actual pages, it's between variscite and zircon....clear quartz is listed as rock crystal and is in between tree agate and amber.....) 2. Mohs hardness scale listing for crystals/stones...this is conspicuously absent.

Absolute best gem book out there. If you have other gem books, get rid of them, they are no good inaccurate things based upon second hand information. If your crystal doesn't seem to be working according to some listed properties you've found, I am not surprised, Gienger is one of the only ones who run clinical trails with people in order to accurately test results.

I was visiting my local crystal shop and wanted something to help with a period of low self-confidence I was trudging through. My friend pulled this book from behind the counter and flipped to the index in the back to look up “confidence”, and it pointed us toward some stones to seek out. That feature alone was enough to make me order this book as soon as I got home. I have other crystal books and they are all special to me, but this one is a must have for any crystal-enthusiast’s library.

This is one of the best at dealing with this subject I've ever read. Can't believe I missed it till now. Mr. Gienger takes you literally from the foundations to the what-they-do, and with fantastic photos to boot. Not a book to glance through and then put on a shelf till you need to look something up. Please do yourselves a favor and study this one if you're really serious about learning how minerals can do what they do. If there were more than 5 stars, I'd click on them. Okay, I confess - he confirms one of the things I've felt for years, that it matters very much how a mineral is formed, where it was formed, along with what's in it - but that didn't prejudice my reactions to the book. Read it and you'll see what I mean.

This is a great book on crystals! It covers everything you would want to know and learn....structure, color, healing properties, care instructions etc. I especially like how the author correlates the structure of gemstones to lifestyles. Also how to use crystals in your daily life.

This is a lesson in geology and chemistry as well as a great resource for the healing powers of crystals. I read it cover to cover and continue to use it as a resource about all things crystal

Again, the author shares his personal research with us, not simply repeating the standard crystal lore that seems to crop up in so many of the crystal books out there today. He explains his methods, his experiences, and his personal conclusions. There is much to learn here. The book is well produced, with astonishingly beautiful photos. Recommended as an addition for one who is already into the world of crystals, or for the serious beginner, rather than for the casual hobbyist.

This book is excellent as it has lots of geological information necessary so you know how the crystals will react at a physical level, as well as the spiritual information. Not all crystal books have a really thorough insight into both areas, so this one excels in the geological side, with a lot of charts. Definitely recommendable.

One of the best or I should say best crystal book I have ever read! A must have for people who like to know the structures and geology of the science rather that just pretty colours, well written and so informative thanks

This book is amazing! Not only does it tell you about the 'science stuff' but also gives great information on the metaphysical side of Crystal Healing. The Science stuff is clearly and easily explained.A fantastic read, very well written and Michael Gienger really comes across in his writing as someone who just LOVES crystals. His passion for the subject is evident as is his wanting to relay the information for those people new to crystals and those people who know a good bit already but who want to know more!Beautifully written.It is now my Crystal bible and I refer to it often.I LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best ever book on Crystals, its a heavy well bound book beautiful full colour plate photos of crystals in and goes into the science and biochemical properties of crystals. The author really knows his stuff, well worth buying a must have for crystals enthusiasts and a great present too give to a crystal lover. It is fantastic, very highly recommended.

i got better ones than this. if i was in a bookstore, i would never have bought it. never mind
