Twisted Games: Twisted, Book 2

This is the best that Ana Huang has written, with Twisted Lies coming close
With this book, I have completed all of Ana Huang's book. Ms Huang has a certain style of writing, and uses tropes well, in a beautiful, enjoyable way. But she also successfully is able to delve in deeper emotions which make the reading a highly enjoyable experience.Looks like I saved the best for the last. Up until now, Twisted Lies was my favourite (Josh and Jules are an absolutely rocking couple) but Bridget and Rhys managed to top them. There is so much heartache, and love spread throughout the book. The best part of the book is that you can see both of them grow throughout the years and it's lovely. Ms Huang writes raunchy sex scenes, and while in some books I found them a little out of place because ALL of Ms Huang's MLs and FL's go for the roughest of the rough (honestly, they never seem to make love which is kind of odd, but that's OK), but here they blend in beautifully with how these two are with each other. The side characters were also quite delightful and it's always nice to see other characters in and out of the books.

HONEST REVIEW (no spoilers)
|| 🌶️: 4/5 || ⭐️:3.75/5 || I am a little picky/specific with the books I like, but this one was a tiny bit underwhelming. I would rate this book a 3.75 but I had to put 4 because that’s not an option. When I read that this book was a forbidden romance, I immediately ordered it. The author is a great writer, but I wasn’t TOO obsessed with the storyline and the way things got to the end. The disliked: A lot of the story was a little repetitive, and I don’t think the story was slow burn enough. Yes, you could call it character development, but I fell in love with the cold hearted MMC in the beginning, and to see him turn into a snuggly bear only halfway through the book had me (only a little) forcing to finish it. Another thing is that sometimes the time would just skip a couple months or years and the readers are left a bit clueless even when you’re filled in. I want to see what happens in that time because I have FOMO. At the end, it kind of felt like it was rushing to the ending and the flame of being at the edge of my seat fizzled out. Yes, I get that the storyline kinda requires it, but just reading “2 years later” turns my stomach because I feel like I missed out on a lot! I also LOVE spice and I think she did a great job with the tension in the beginning, but it really died down towards the second half. It kind of felt like the last 3/4s of the book was them clearly in love while only the 1/4 was falling. I personally like more build up and slow burn. Also, I would’ve liked the FMC to be a bit more… dominant in bed sometimes. I LOVE how Rhys was, it’s hot, but I wanted to see him weak in the knees at one point, despite his big masculine persona. Information: The plot line is a hot bodyguard with a brutal past whom falls head over heals for his princess client. The story became quite predictable, but that’s okay, because I mainly started reading for the spice. Do not go into this book thinking it’s all spice, it’s not. It’s both spice and love equally, which is still nice. Things I liked: I really liked the beginning when Rhys ignored Bridget, and we got to see their tension and banter turn into love and passion. I would’ve loved more of that rather than royal politics consuming their story. I also like how the author added subtle hints of characters from the other books in this series sneaking around, to which I will be reading the rest. I skipped twisted love, however, because I read the reviews and just chose to dive right into this one, because the reviews said the author listened to her feedback making this book and the connection much better. I read some other reviews on the other books and will only be proceeding to read twisted hate, as I love the story line on that one. I know all of the books are good, I’m just picky!! My recommendation: I know no one asked lol, but I recommend it if you like romance book with some good spice and tension. However, if you’re more into tension and spice (the good stuff) than lovey dovey, I don’t recommend this book. I would probably recommend twisted hate, although I haven’t read it yet. If you’re reading the reviews and can’t decide whether to buy it or not, I suggest buying it, readinf up to half way, and if you don’t like the royal politics or get a little bored like I did, you can just pick up another book. (Anyway, I’m sorry if this review was a bit harsh, I’m just very picky and not into an overload of lovey dovey! Onto reading credence by Penelope Douglas next LMAO I’m not sure how I’ll be able to handle the drastic change.) Anyway, I recommend and it was a good read, just more so in the beginning :) It was a great book, and well written, just not for me!

Better than Love...Games
This story follows the bodyguard and the reluctant princess thrown into roles they would never take. Fighting the attraction in their own enemies to lovers trope, Rhys and Bridgett are wonderful characters and support each other in the struggles with their families. The love between the characters is palpable and they are exciting to read about. Getting to see them reach a level of happiness that was much needed made for a wonderful read. Equally detailed and intense intimacy scenes and perfect read.

Buddy Reading Worthy! (Not your tradition "Cinderalla" story) READ WITH CAUTION! SPOILERS AHEAD!
My friend and I are buddy reading this series together, and this was a nice read. A lot of repeats on characteristics and emotions like Rhys's eyes being "stormy" and "steel" like, butterfly infested stomachs, and "she's different" vibes. If it weren't for those constant repeats, I might have rayed it higher. It was a bit rushed with Rhys's found family trope, but a nice touch anyway! Ana Huang does have a thing with having her characters making deals or bets that's supposed to draw them closer together, and this time, it was to follow orders without question, but I didn't see the point since Rhys became so whipped to the point he couldn't stay away/keep his hands off Bridget throughout their story! I'd say this was also a bit of a slow burn if you're expecting a love confession right away! Huang did a good job with portraying Bridget's emotions so strongly, too! With the reflection of her parents' death, the feeling of being placed last as a person, the guilt of her grandfather's heart attack, and being heartbroken, I was really in my feelings when reading through that. With the twists in the end, my friend and I were both screaming and crying from how things wrapped up! I'd recommend as a buddy read for sure to talk about the spicy scenes, the twists, the pain, and laughs! This will work as a read alone too, but I've heard both series are intertwined one way or another. Why not read it with a friend or book club?

Absolutely captivating!!
"Twisted Games" is a captivating tale of a princess and her bodyguard, whose love evolves as they navigate their responsibilities and the complexities of their forbidden romance. Ana Huang keeps you on the edge of your seat with an emotional journey that explores the depths of love that is both boundless and resilient against the challenges of time. This story beautifully balances tension and romance, making it a must-read for fans of heartfelt narratives.

Second book was interesting
This is the second book in this series. In my opinion it wasn’t quite as good as the first, but it was a good read. The slow burn is absolutely drawn out. YEARS! The two couldn’t stand each other at first. The banter was funny and the interactions were loaded between them.Enjoy!

I was always meant to find my way to you”
I'm a big fan of forbidden romance so when I knew the princess x bodyguard trope for this book I was like let me in!! t's have been a while since a book left me like this, with the need for more. Ana Huang became one of my favourites authors in no time with the Twisted series!I absolutely loved Twisted Games, so much!! We get princess x bodyguard, OTT JP, dirty talker, swoon Hero, grumpy x sunshine/sassy, lots of tension, and forbidden romance trope. That's a win IMO lol.I think the pace of the book was perfect because even though the story takes place over four years there are time jumps that weren't necessarily annoying, and we get deep important scenes. That said, I enjoyed Bridget and Rhys! Their banter was so funny but also because I love to feel the connection between the characters. This is important for me because sometimes the book has all the tropes I'm in the mood for, and the characters are really good so that's a win but when I don't feel the connection between them.. that's a thank you, next for me. This didn't happen here and I can't shut up about how much I love the princess and Mr. Larsen.Bridget von Ascheberg was such an amazing heroine. When I read Twisted Love, I wasn't sure about her character since we didn't get very deep into her but I had an idea that she was going to be sassy and her romance with her bodyguard lol.I loved she wasn't the typical naive princess we usually get and even if she was ignorant in certain things, I loved the growth in her character ❤️ she was brave but also with a big heart. Absolutely the perfect match for Rhys.Rhys Larsen. was also introduced in Twisted Love and I knew I was going to love him since his first line lol. I was a weakness for grumpy Heroes and this one was 🤌🤌 he was JP like dude chill but that's hot, only has eyes for Bridget even though she is a PIA, he draws like paint me like one of your french girls, did I mention possessive and totally simp for Bridget? wow, that's powerful.jpg lolI have to say that one of the things I love about forbidden romance is the secret touches - secrets smiles, winks, hand touch, very hot tension, and Twisted Games didn't disappoint. They were perfect, I love them so much!!I was happy to see the rest of the Twisted characters! Alex and Ava were cute (please don't tell Alex I said that, lol) AAAAAnd we get some crumbs for the future couples. I hope they found Josh and Jules since they were MIA! and can we talk about Christian and Stella because I call 'stalker love' here! I can't waitSo, this is a standalone book that is part of the series. it's not necessary to read Twisted Love in order to understand the events of this book BUT I think it could help to understand the characters that are introduced, and some events were mentioned that happened in TH.

Sometimes repetitive and cliche… all the time engaging
Listen….There will always be sentences you’ve read before, tropes you have seen before, characters that have been explored before… but that is expected. Not every plot / book will have such a complete uniqueness that sweeps you off your feet. So the reason why i love this story is not because it’s so unique and so foreign. It’s because it’s a comforting familiarity. It’s written well. It explores just enough different tropes and issues to sustain interest, but not so much it becomes overwhelming and messy. The build up to the characters inevitably giving in to each other is great, and gives that warm feeling inside when you suspect it’s just about to happen. It’s romance, it’s sweet, it grows, it frustrates, it feels familiar, and it’s a little naughty. Can’t complain.
