Legendary blades
I was never good at sharpening knives and so spent years neglecting my knives, which have long been first rate tomato-smashers. I finally got tired of all the extra effort in the kitchen and ordered this, along with the 1000/6000 so that I could use its guide. Started with the guide because of my lack of confidence, but honestly, after using it to sharpen one carving knife (took a while because of the knife's atrocious condition), I was familiar enough with the angle to free-hand the rest. The 1000 grit will get your knives to slide easily through a tomato or pork loin. I assume that the 6000 grit would refine the blade to the point of it making a gong sound each time it is removed from the drawer, but I have not had need to take things to that level. This product has not only worked wonders on my knives, it has cured my lifelong insecurity about sharpening them. It's as though a great weight has finally been lifted and I have solved a riddle, or an enigma. Nothing in this world can you trust: not men, or women, or beasts, but this. . . . . . .this you can trust .

This is good, I am not a beginner, not an expert, and not a stone snob (yet)
I was handed down a nice 1"x6" stone from my grandfather (don't know what it is but oldschool). I learned on it and though I am no expert by any means I was able to (with some ceramic) turn out hair popping results. It wasn't perfectly flat, or very flat at all really, still isn't but will be better when my tool arrives. Point is I am not a chef, not an expert, but with a stone of small size and not even flat results can be had. I don't do it for a job, I simply wanted more options, and this Pebble is good for the average Joe. I can tell it wears faster than my hand me down, but there's a cleaner/flattening stone that came with it plus there is more stone to work with. I am easily turning out hair popping pocket knives with this stone and some ceramic and I am well out of practice. I do like the feel of it both dry and wet, and the feedback when sharpening feels very good. Again for the average Joe, home cook, beginner, etc etc this will work just fine. For those that like the finer things in life, or are stone snobs, there are more expensive slower wearing stones out there, well and more expensive faster wearing stones (as I've researched). I received Gransfors Bruks puck (for my field bag) and also have a Chosera 3000 on the way. Hands down the Bruks followed by the Pebble are the two nicest stones I've ever purchased to date, and I expect the Chosera to be even better. But just know I've only ever purchase local hardware store cheap crap that might be good enough to have sharpened a lawnmower blade before any of this stuff. Not an expert or even that diversely experienced with stones. Hope this helps you're decision making.

Really Good Stones
Can achieve a really sharp edge with these stones. These were my first stones that I really learned to sharpen on. As long as you're only trying to sharpen and not repair or regrind an edge, these will do the job. 400 to 1000 alone is enough to get a razor edge. Would definitely recommend to anyone that doesn't sharpen often. There are a couple of things I need to mention though: 1. I found out that leaving them submerged in water all the time causes the stones to degrade. The stones develop a film that floats om the water and embeds into the surface of the stones. Also rust spots will tend to form if the stones are not completely cleared of all the metal removed from the knives. Not being able to leave them submerged is a hassle for me if I want to use them everyday. I have to make sure to soak them 30 mins everyday before I open to ensure they are saturated. 2. The stones become closer to 400 grit the more you use the leveling stone (I use it as a dressing stone. 400 grit is not coarse enough to level a stone). After flattening its best to use another grit thats close to the one of the stone. Eg after flattening the 3000 I would recommend using 3000 grit to dress the stone. Can be done with another 3000 grit stone, sandpaper, or abrasive powder. Haven't used them with high carbon knives but im sure it wouldnt be a problem. If these were splash and go stones, I would never buy another stone for work again. Going to replace these for nagura splash and go stones.

Excellent Sharping Stone & Company
Fantastic quality stones, great customer service, great value/price. I liked these stones so much, I bought two more for my grown kids who have recently acquired good quality knives. You will have to read the instructions carefully and maybe watch a you tube video or two (like I did) to learn the various techniques, but once you practice a little and get it down your knives are truly razor sharp just like when they were brand new. It takes a little time at first but well worth it. Much better than electric knife sharpeners, that break, are loud and bulky to store. They destroy your knives, by grinding off so much metal you'll lose your edges, and ultimately your knives, all the while scratching the heck out of them. I'll never use an electric sharpener again especially if you have expensive German or Japanese knives like I do. The company really goes out of the way to make sure you're satisfied, by following up with an email and sending you an e-manual, and link for additional support. The way the product is packaged and shipped is the best I've experienced so far with any other vendors on Amazon. I will be buying more for future gifts for people I know that have high quality knives.

Good enough stones at a reasonable price, but the company is sketchy
I bought these to sharpen my pocket knives and kitchen knives. However, the box had no instructions, but included a page with a link to their "free ebook" site. I had only sharpened knives with a "slot" style and wanted to make sure I was using these correctly. There was no direct download of the instructions on the ebook site, I had to fill out an online form so they could gather names and emails. The page wouldn't work because there were "hidden pixel" trackers to multiple data scraping sites. My adblocker and the Firefox Facebook container wouldn't let the form work without turning all that off. I used a throwaway email in a different browser to sign up and the email that came to me was also full of trackers and used a deceptive link to Dropbox that actually was to some click harvesting tracker. If you value your data privacy, I'd suggest another vendor.

Good value stones
These stones represent super value for money, compared to some of the very expensive stones that are available from other manufacturers. The stones were delivered in good packaging ensuring they were in pristine condition when delivered. I bought these stones to sharpen several kitchen knives which were extremely dull. I have only sharpened one knife so far but the stones do the job very well considering this is my first time using a sharpening stone to sharpen kitchen knives. They seem like they have enough quality to get good results on but not so expensive that they are at risk of a novice sharpener like my self damaging them through poor technique.
