Excellent gate latch, but wrong screws for mounting in wood.I feel this latch was/is better than latches I was able to find locally; this one cost more, but worth it.However, the mounting screws are better suited for a sheet metal / metal install. For wood posts (my application) the screws may work, but with less holding power.. as they are self-tapping with not enough holding threads (too short). I used others I had on hand.....Gate latch and 'pin' line up perfectly and gate closes and latches every time.Would recommend, but you may want additional mounting screws.

Used this on our fence gate after our dogs escaped several times due to a poor prior gate latch. Prior hardware was not as secure and could easily be closed without fully latching. Also, dogs jumping on the gate or high winds could get the latch to open. This new one is AWESOME!!! Spring loaded causes it to fully close every time and there is no way for it to re-open without physically pressing down on the lever. I love how you can hear it latch closed and I never worry about it opening. I have bought some extra springs just in case 1 breaks or rusts (I live in a salty environment) but this is the best latch I have found so far.

Ours does and they literally haven't repaired our gate after multiple complaints. So we bought this and it does it's job unlike our landlords. Once we move we are taking this sob to. Lol

This lock is not for security; but more for convenience. Someone can hop the gate and strike the latch and enter in less than 30 seconds. Steel is not hardened. For a standard gate latch on the fence, it’s fine.

A real bear to get installed right and with that tiny unprotected spring I don't see that lasting long. Suppose I'll just buy a couple spares and hope. I had to modify my fence gate to adapt to this monster and it's really pretty bulky.
