Jack and the Beanstalk

The story lacks good moral
The book is beautiful but I don’t like what it teaches my child at all. The moral of the book is that the boy stole from the giant and got more greedy every time he did and in the end the giant is the one presented in bad light. Lacks good moral like some other reviewers mentioned.

Lack of good moral teaching
The book itself is beautifully illustrated and larger than most board books so it's really captivating for my child. I may return it though because i don't really like the message or lack of moral to the story. For those who don't know, the story is about a boy named jack who sells his cow for magic beans that grow into a giant beanstalk. Jack climbs the beanstalk and steals gold from the angry giant that lives up the beanstalk, which makes him rich. On his 3rd voyage up the beanstalk (for his 3rd planned "robbery") he ends up being chased down the beanstalk by the giant . He chops the beanstalk down and kills the giant.I don't really like how this book promotes stealing without consequences is my point . I most likely will be returning it

You need to justify the stealing
It's a beautifully illustrated book. The pics are nice and large. But there is one thing I didn't like: in other versions of the story, stealing from the giant is justified because the Mom says "these used to belong to your father and if was good of you to bring them back." I mean, we can't just teach our kids to out and out steal something just because the giant doesn't look pleasing to the eye, now can we???? So the good news is I am reading this to a 2 and 4 year old so I can just add/remove whatever I want.

Sends the wrong messages
The way this version is written sends all of the wrong messages. It teaches kids to be greedy, steal, and be murderers... Basically Jack and his mom don't know when to stop... and the giant is the victim more than once. Don't recommend this at all for the story. Too bad, because the illustrations are nice and my kid loves them.

My favourite
Love this author . The large pictures, and heavy board pages make this an ideal book for toddlers. It’s very big but I feel it makes the book more engaging . I’m going to look for more books by this author .
