You'll dodge, duck, dip, dive. . . and laugh out loud watching Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller settle their differences in a winner-take-all dodgeball competition. Under the painful tutelage of legendary ADAA champ, Patches O'Houlihan (Rip Torn), Peter LaFleur (Vaughn) and his Average Joes take on the Purple Cobras, led by egomaniacal fitness guru, White Goodman (Stiller). It's an over-the-top underdog tale filled with hilarious sight gags and balls-out fun!

Like many Ben Stiller movies only moderately funny
Ben Stiller really enjoys playing in satires. Dodgeball was a spoof of the sports genre. Stiller played White Goodman who owned Globo Gyn who believed most people were ugly and needed to work out and have plastic surgery to look better. Vince Vaugh was Pete LaFleur who ran Average Joe’s Gym who appealed to not only the average but the hopeless. When LaFleur finds out that not only is he in foreclosure on his loan for his gym, but that Goodman wants to buy it. LaFleur decides to form a dodgeball team out of his members to try to win its grand prize of $50,000 to pay off his mortgage. The problem is like many of Stiller’s other movies Dodgeball is just sort of funny. Yes, there are some times when it’ll get a chuckle like when LaFleur’s team plays their first dodgeball game against a troop of Girl Scouts who get disqualified because one of their members was on three different kinds of steroids or when Goodman says nobody makes him bleed his own blood and then he catches his ride from one of his workers on a moped or when they have to wear S&M costumes for their first tournament round. None of these will make you really laugh however.C

VERY FUN MOVIE
I don't usually like sporting event movies. I saw this a long time ago; and had nearly forgotten about it. I remembered it when I stumbled across the REAL National Dodgeball League on YouTube. I thought it was JUST a movie. I had to go back and buy this, and watch it again. I loved the movie then; and I found it even more fun today--especially since I now know that there really is an actual Professional Dodgeball league in the US, which competes against other leagues world wide (Google it if you do not believe me!).

"If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!" - favorite line! (I dare you NOT to watch it NOW!)
I personally LOVED the GAME of dodge ball when I was growing up - got a chance to get back at all of the mean and hurtful kids in school (the fact that I was athletic with a good throwing arm meant I was usually one of the last ones standing!). That, of course, is probably what made me interested in the movie to begin with. Was it a silly movie? Duh - but isn't that the point?? My absolute favorite line is "If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!" (Now you HAVE to see it to see where that comes in!) I'd DEFINITELY watch it again!

Was funnier when we where younger.
Just one of those goofy movies that you watched a few years ago and remember some of the lines from. Not really worth the second/ third watch. Im no SJW, or anything and was not offended by any of the jokes or nothing like that. Just upon watching realized now in my adult age, how cringy a lot of this movie is.

One of my “go to” happy places.
when you need something silly this fits the bill. If you rent this and expect something highbrow you’re going to be disappointed but you’ve been warned and it’s on you. Lots of good moments and so many laughs.

Fun and stupid at the same time!
Often over the top and absolutely hilarious at times, this movie has always been a kind of guilty pleasure of mine ever since I say it years ago in the theater: razor-sharp dialogue, many memorable scenes and quotable quotes. Just darn funny. Ben Stiller does an awesome job of making you hate his character. Vince Vaughan owns Average Joe's gym, a down and out place for regular folks to get in shape. Ben Stiller, his lifelong rival, runs Globogym, the corporate, image destroying gym next door. What follows is the convoluted tale of how the Joe's fight back to save their gym through some adult Dodgeball action. Hilarious and worth a look.

Hysterical
I most definitely do not like the two principle stars (Vaughn and Stiller) and generally find the movies they star in to be over the top doofy, stupid and far too childish and/or adolescent for my taste. Having said that, I LOVE this film as it skates the edge of not being too far over the edge (for me at least) and has some amusing cameos to boot. Oh, and flying wrenches and dodge balls to the face.

Pathetic
Perhaps an argument could be made for the supporting characters being 'underdogs'. The main character is just plain lazy and unmotivated. Worse, undermines the people who look up to him with his uncaring and indifferent advice. I want to see this guy crash and burn, not win the tournament, win the success, and win the girl.

brilliant movie, poor value blu ray.
I have owned the DVD for years, and its one of my favourite movies, so now I am starting to move over to blu ray with my collection, I thought it was about time to replace this movie with a shiny new high def version. The film itself looks really good, but where this blu ray disappoints is with the extras. On the DVD you get commentary, deleted scenes, alternate ending, dvd rom content, bloopers, featurettes & trailers. On the blu ray you get theatrical trailer, fox on blu ray & websites. For a medium that gives you more storage space, there is no excuse for all the extra features being dropped. Most blu rays will have the special features in standard def, which is fine, so why they felt the need to gyp the blu ray buying public is beyond me.Film gets 5 stars, the blu ray only 3.

a little gem,
Saw a preview of this (as you do) at the beginning of another film, & I just had to have a copy, with it being an old film, it did not cost a lot, you have Ben Stiller as a flash show off gym owner with loads of cash & a posh gym, across the street is Vince Vaughn the down trodden scruffy gym owner who refuses to sell up to Stiller, so with his bunch of losers as staff they decide to compete their respective staff in the latest craze "Dodgeball"Rip Torn acts as a coach in his wheelchair throwing large spanners for the downtrodden ( never played before) team to dodge, William Shatner shows up as a judge also Chuck Norris is there, needless to say there is a happy ending with hilarious bits on the way, look out for the cheer leaders bit with a rather large girl who is lifted onto one of teams shoulders, she first admits to the poor guy she wasn't wearing panties, enjoy!

Dodge a wrench and then dodge a ball...
For us the only reason we bought this DVD was due to the fact kit son told us he had played dodge ball at school.. We then quoted him the classic line of "if you can dodge a wrench then you can dodge a ball". Because he had never heard of this film he decided to look it up on YouTube. The room was filled with laughter... and then the request from him to see if we could order it... job done Fab film. Great humour...

zany feel-good comedy ; a lot of fun
This is a very, very, very silly film in the manner of 'Zoolander' and 'Anchorman', which come from the same or similar stables and have cast members in common. It's saved by quite a number of genuinely witty lines and some good-natured whole-hearted performances by a very good cast, headed by Vince Vaughn (macho, very good-looking and rather charming) and Ben Stiller (grotesquely over-the-top, which is just as he needs to be for the role). You can't help feeling a warm glow of pleasure as Vaughn's motley crew of no-hopers vie with and eventually triumph over Stiller's tough guys (and one girl) in the completely absurd game of Dodgeball. Good, too, to see the very game Christine Taylor, Stiller's off-screen wife, as a really nice bisexual lawyer deadly dodgeball player who can whip the legs from under a 6 feet 8 giant with one whisk of her bowling arm. Impossible to believe, but this is never a film that expects you to take it seriously. I must say I think 'Zoolander' and 'Anchorman' are better, but this is good fun and well worth a look.

So funny I bust a muscle...no really!
The first time I watched this movie I had to turn it off - I was laughing so hard I was going blue. The second time I watched it I pulled a muscle from laughing. This movie is a real treat, it's very silly indeed and arrived at a time that I was telling all my friends that there isn't a movie out there that makes me laugh as much as the Life of Brian. If you watch even part of this movie - wait until the bag-of-wrenches training scene and make your mind up - if that doesn't make you giggle then someone must be chiselling your headstone as we speak.A super, super movie if you're in need of some sillyness in your life.
