Q: How secure is the clip portion? Worried if that would come undone if the horse pulled against it.

I’ve had mine for several years and I love the quality. Never had any issues and it works great! I ride several times a week year round, so will vouch for the quality and usefulness

I returned these. The ring broke. Do not buy!

Q: How long is the Booma rein direct? Does it get in the way?

It’s probably about 30” long. I have the western one. It doesn’t get in my way at all. Very handy for when I’m riding alone and need to tend to a hind hoof.
