LED lights and the colors of the cage are really nice, but the design of it isn't the greatest and isn't very sturdy. Feels very cheap and seems like it could break easily when taking the top on and off to clean, take hamster out, etc. The door is very difficult to open and close, water bottle leaks quite a bit, and wheel is extremely small (smaller than the wheels of cages that are the same size as this one). It's a decent cage and works for right now, but I probably wouldn't purchase this one again.

Hamster Cage Lights Up - a Showcase For Your Pet
This is your standard hamster cage that is unusual in only one respect - it has two LED lights on either end. The red one is intended as a nightlight while the blue is for "anytime," which is a little strange. They run on button cell batteries (which are included) and you can set them to blink once every few minutes or have a constant glow. The lights are designed not to harm your typical pet but seem added purely for a child to enjoy some kind of lighting effect, as if the hamsters were on a stage on Las Vegas and you wanted to show them off this way.My main critique is that the advantages of the light are for the owner, not the pet. If I were a hamster I would have trouble sleeping if I were subjected to lights night and day. If you have a child who's afraid of the dark, then this lit-up cage would good in his/her bedroom, as it offers a sight of her beloved pet in the dark. Otherwise, it seems a little silly and extraneous.Like other cages it comes with a water bottle, wheel, and food dish. I can't say it's a bad item, but I'm the type of pet owner who likes to put the needs of the pet first.

Basic cage that lights up
This cage can be used alone but has multiple ports so that tubes to other cages can be attached to make an expanded habitat for small rodents such as mice, gerbils, and hamsters. The cage measures about 20 x 10 1/2 x 10 1/2 in. and is made of plastic and metal wire. It is sturdy enough but I would worry that a determined pet could escape, especially if a door is not closed correctly. It takes a few minutes to assemble, but the instructions are clear and it is not difficult to do. A very basic water dispenser, food bowl, and small exercise wheel are included. The cage opens completely from the top or bottom for easy cleaning. The special feature is two LED lights. One is red so as not to interfere with the pet’s nocturnal sight and behavior. Press it once for the light to come on for three minutes or twice for indefinite illumination. The LEDs use button or coin batteries which are included, but AA or AAA batteries would be much more convenient and rechargeables could be used. It would also be better if both LEDs were red as I don't see the point in having the white one.

Cute With Even Cuter Possibilities
Okay, this is REALLY cute. The colors, the lights, the small size. What is more awesome is the ability to buy tube accessories and link this to other houses and toys. The pamphlet inside shows ideas, and it is too tempting. So many cute possibilities. This comes with the wheel, water bottle, food dish and two lights; one red (won't bother the little guy's eyes at night). The other is blue. The lights turn on with their own push buttons.Assembly is really easy, especially if one has any ability to follow instructions or look at pictures. There are plenty of both. The quality of the cage itself is okay, and the deep bottom is really nice because it doesn't spill much. The door on mine is hard to open. I need to bend the wire a bit to be able to get a grip on it. The openings for the tunnels, lights, etc., will need care to not break over time as they are plastic. The covers and lights fit pretty securely. If done carelessly though, the cover can fall out with a bump and your critter will be FREEEEE!Now, the plastic wheel...I'm not sold. I want a wire wheel as of old. The water bottle is interesting...I expect it will be leaking soon. The food dish is plastic also, and between it and the water bottle, I think my dwarf hamsters will be feasting on something other than food. I'd much rather have metal.Overall, this is a fun set up, and I will definitely be getting accessories to make life more interesting for the critters. I had another cage from this company and gave it away because it was not at all well made. This one is better, maybe because it is smaller? It fits together well though and will work great for small small rodents.

It looks like all the other habitats
This is our sixth Critter Trail habitat. It looks like all the other habitats, except it lights up and the latch is different. I won't use the light-up part because I have no desire to see it lit up. My daughter and I have had an ongoing disagreement about these cages. She says they are too small, which I agree, but whoever stops at one cage? She had her cages all connected in one huge maze. You know what? The hamster mostly stayed in one cage, occasionally wandering elsewhere. Now, the hamster is in a giant wooden box. She uses all her CritterTrail cages now as "travel carriers." That's what this is, a travel carrier, for temporary use only. That's what she tells me.

Nice little home for you new family members
This is a very nice starter set for a hamster or other small animals. The colors are really nice! It comes with a food bowl, water bottle, lights and a wheel. My only problem with it and why it has 4 stars it what the wheel is really small and doesn't turn easily, so my hamsters can't fit on it and if I had mice or a smaller breed hamster they most likely wouldn't be able to spin it. The water bottle works perfect and doesn't drip and the lights are nice additions to the cage. We actually connected this to another Kay tee cage and the hamsters love running back and forth.

Solid starter
This is a nice little starter set - very cute colors and funkly LED lights that look good but I'm not quite clear on how healthy these would be for the little critters inside...short periods of time only. This connects to other units so can grow and keep the critters occupied. Comes with wheel and bottle, hard plastic for easy cleaning. Overall a solid option as a starter!
