Excellent helmet with great safety technology.
The Bell MX-9 MIPS series is an excellent line of helmets with the latest safety technology in it and I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for this style of helmet. Sadly it did not fit my head due its shape and size. I felt like I was in between the size that I actually needed so I had to return it. I would still recommend this for people who it fits comfortably due to all the safety features.

Tough to beat
Let me preface this with, I tried on 4-5 of the top rated helmets side by side with the Bell MX9 Adv, including the Klim Krios Pro, Shoei Hornet X2, and Arai XD4. The Arai and Klim were the first to go, due to their overall fit and function along with the price tag. Hard to justify 2-3x the cost of the bell when they arenโt even as comfortable out of the box. I quickly narrowed it down to the Shoei Hornet X2 and the Bell MX9. They fit very similarly, with the Shoei edging it out with its overall craftsmanship and quality. It truly is a work of art - but it also exceeded my needs for a dual sport helmet. For twice the cost, I made the tough decision to send it back. The bell shared so many features in terms of fit, comfort, and safety that based on craftsmanship alone, it was tough to spend the extra money. I donโt do a lot of road miles except to connect trails, and get from a to b. If I did longer highway miles, I definitely would have gone with the SNELL rated Shoei. However, the MIPS system is a great feature, and the MX9 is comfortable on the road and on the trail. I really appreciate the adaptability of a comms system like my Cardo Black. The cheek pads have integrated pouches for the headphone pieces, while the breath box leaves ample room for the microphone. The lining is super plush and comfortable, and proves to be a bit warm on longer rides, but cracking the shield every now and then helps dump the heat. The ventilation is good, albeit not as good as the other 3 helmets I listed above. The visor does catch a draft, but every helmet with a visor will. On trips where Iโm spending minimal amounts of time on pavement I have a full MX helmet on, so Iโm used to this and it doesnโt bother me. Overall this helmet is the best bang for the buck you can find. The additional face shields available are a great bonus. I have both the gold iridium (pictured) and dark smoke. Would suggest without hesitation to anybody looking for a solid dual sport helmet that checks all the boxes.

Flows a lot of air - great for hot weather riding!
I have worn Bell helmets for more than 40 years. They just seem to fit my head very well. I now split most of my time riding in two COMPLETELY different environments - the desert Southwest of the USA, and Negros Oriental in the Philippines. Hot and dry versus hot and wet. In both cases, you need a helmet that flows a lot of air to keep your head from being roasted. This helmet is the BEST I have found for doing that in these two vastly different conditions. I have TWO of these, one in each country. You can't buy Bell helmets in the Philippines, but it was definitely worth buying a second one in USA and flying there with it. Helmets there are sized and shaped for the Asian markets - not a lot of good options for Western-shaped heads. It also works with my glasses, even sunglasses worn overtop of my regular glasses. Having MIPS give me even more confidence in this helmet. An outstanding helmet value!

Great helmet, good construction and fits well
I bought this helmet for ATV riding and snow plowing. Riding, in general, the helmet is great. It fits very well and is true to size. Unfortunately, the cold weather kit for this size (L) is unavailable, and the visor fogs and freezes while I'm plowing. Comfort-wise, this helmet is perfect, and I have worn it for up to 6 hours at a stretch with no problems other than the stated visor issue. I recently bought a Castle X helmet with a heated visor for snow plowing since Bell doesn't make a heated visor for this helmet.

Good Value Adv helmet
Bell makes good helmets at reasonable prices. The MIPS technology is a plus which I also use on mountain biking helmets. The helmet is comfortable as long as your head lends itself to Bell helmets (you should try different brands to make sure). I wanted an adv helmet because of the wider field of view, goggles option, sun visor and heck, I just like the looks. The peak is fine for slower speeds but do yourself a favor and remove it for anything above 40mph. It will catch the wind like a sail and make you feel like your head is going to get whipped off. Itโs not a quiet helmet. My ears are still ringing from wind noise from two days ago and convinced me to get ear protection. I think it would be great for trail riding as it has a ton of air flow, but that airflow cannot be closed on any of the vents except the main mouth vent. Iโll keep playing with it as I didnโt want to pay the ridiculous prices of the Arai and Shoei adv helmets.

Love it
This is true to size, like exactly. Iโm right at 23.25 and thought I should order a size up but ended up having to return it and order right at the top of the limit for the large. Itโs a bit snug at first but breaks in. Edit: wanted to update my comments on the fog. I had a chance to ride again last night in some colder weather. The visor fogged up quite a bit and didnโt clear up when I started cruising, so I had to crack it open and drive it around for a while this time. Eventually once the visor cooled down a bit and got closer to the temp outside it got better but there was still some fogging. I ended up ordering the pinlock visor they offer for this helmet and hopefully that fixes it for me. The cheek pads are definitely tight, I ordered the smaller size from Bell direct and those are much better, Iโm glad they offered them. I wear glasses and with the smaller cheek pads I can put them on easily, with the stock cheek pads it was no good. This does come with the clear visor, it does not ship with both visors as others have stated. I ordered the light smoke visor for the winter and night time riding and find this to be just about right (itโs a very soft tint). I also ordered the dark smoke for summer riding. In hindsight, I should have probably just ordered their photochromatic visor but, thatโs pretty expensive, though people seem to love it. This does fog a bit at a stand still but once you get moving it clears up right away, however I do typically run hotter than the average person. I just crack the visor a bit when stopped and pop it back down when I get moving, that doesnโt bother me. It is a little noisy as others have said but itโs fine. Itโs really not bad. This is my scooter helmet and Iโm going 40mph at the fastest. Iโm using it with my Apollo Phantom. If you ride long on the freeway you may want something another level up. If you trail ride and bop around itโs probably perfect for you. This is more for dual sport. The visor and sun seal are super easy to change out and thatโs a really nice feature to have. It takes less than five minutes to do and thatโs another reason I had no problem ordering a couple more visors. The visors were about thirty bucks a pop when I ordered them. Right now itโs November and the temperature is pretty cool. Warmth wise itโs fine, air flow seems fine. I donโt have any experience with it in the summer so I canโt speak for how hot it will get, so no comments on that unfortunately. I have worn it for probably two weeks now and itโs already super comfy. Iโd say my only critique is the lip on the visor for flipping it up and back down could be a little more aggressive so itโs easier to hit with gloves on.

10/10
I'm quite surprised how cheap this helmet is for what it is. Yes in your hands it feels a little heavier than some premium helmets. However, when you're wearing it, it's totally fine. I don't feel it heavy one bit. Using it with the goggles on my off-road dirtbike.

Very comfortable, well built helmet. I like that you can swap out for goggles pretty easily - clean, good looking helmet
