Instantly stopped working—NOT worth it.
This thing worked for less than a full day. Honestly I don’t even know if it made it through a single night.I put it in my brand new tank with nothing but fine sand and live rock, and it returned an “Error 7” code and stopped working.Hygger says this is due to there being something jammed in the propellor, which might make sense if there was anything at all to get sucked into the power head. I placed it midway down in the water column and was having a horrible time programming it, then came back to see that it stopped working all together. It says to pry it all apart and reset it. Way too much work for something that is a pain to use in the first place.I wanted to like this brand for the price point, but I’ll be going back to the other brand I’ve had no issues with for years. Save your time and money.

Nearly silent, convoluted setup, seems like a lot of pump for the money
First of all, if you're on the fence between the 1600 and the 2600, get the 2600. You can dial down the big one for a correct flow, but to ramp up an undersized one may lead to an early failure, and if you've had fish for any time at all, you know what I'm talking about. I had a NERO 3, which I really liked for every reason, but at 18 months it expired. When I saw the new price and weighed it against life expectancy, the answer was to be found in a different product. I chose the Hygger based on reviews as well as my experience with their lighting, as well as a price of less than half of the previous pump. The HG951/2600 comes pretty much pre-programmed for a days' cycle, once you enter your local time. The business of the lights and strengths, wave period etc., is something you can get to if you feel like it, but if you just run with the factory setup, you should be ok. The only things I would change are 1) I would like the power adapter to have a pigtail so it takes up less space on a power strip, and 2) the cord from the power adapter to the controller is about 3 ½ feet long, or so, and I wish they had split the difference with the line from the controller to the pump which is maybe 5 ½ feet. I like that it's black - it disappears against the black back of the tank. It's very quiet, initial setup takes ten minutes, and it's reasonably priced. Oh, and it moves a lot of water, gently. Now let's see how long it lasts.

Powerful Wavemaker
This little wavemaker is power and quiet. The output is adjustable and fairly straight forward to adjust once you read the instructions carefully. Speaking on power the first tank I had it on was a ten gallon reef tank and it sucked up and killed a small clown fish. I made sure to bring the power down to around 40% then. I've been using it for about 10 months now and its currently on a 20 gallon and still going strong.Cleaning is simple and take out and clean like every 3 months. The way this pushes water I believe this could work up to a 55 gallon tank. Time will tell on longevity but I've heard of other pumps dying at 6 months so there's that.My only gripe is I can't turn the display off on the controller, the blue lights are always on so you may want to consider if that would be too annoying.

Silent and Compact
The pump is compact and silent to the ear, and it appears that the rate of water movement and the wave action descriptions are accurate. The controller keeps accurate time. You have to assemble the submersible pump by lining up the rubber poles with the holes, which are not evenly spaced. Once that is done, you can place the pump wherever you want, as long as it is submerged, and the external magnet that holds it in place is on the ***outside*** of the aquarium.I had to read and re-read the instructions to set up and adjust the controller, but once I had it set, it was not difficult to understand. ***You have to set the clock to military time if you are setting it after noon. Also note that "sunset" begins at 2:30 pm (14:30).*** I adjusted the clock to coordinate it with my tank's daily photoperiod.

Safe?
Needed to replace my original as it started messing up right after my warranty expired. Unfortunately they would not replace it. But communication is slow and when I ordered the new one, I noticed the packaging was different like when they originally sent and the inside was different.Personally might look like metal but did not want that in my fish tank. I reached out through Amazon as well email and they still have not gotten back to me about what material it is. Old one was all plastic but new one is different. For that I deducted two stars.Look at pic, I would prefer all plastic. My old one worked perfect just gave out about 13 months.

Absolutely Fantastic
I have no idea how long this Hygger wavemaker will last, but the design, the flow rate, the wave pattern, and the dimensions are just unbelievable, a perfect match for a nano reef. I do run a Fluval EVO 13.5, and what I've seen so far on Youtube, no matter how expensive or sophisticated wavemaker they have, all look bad in a nano tank, because of the size. I want a display to show the reef, not a display full of wavemakers bigger than the rocks in the tank. Efficiency? 150% for a nano tank. If properly placed in the tank, you can see the sand particles flowing at the bottom round and round, without clouding the water. Anyways finally, a wavemaker for the nano tank hobbyist who wants to keep the natural beauty of his tank without displaying a windmill inside his nano tank. Easy to program, worth the money, if it breaks tomorrow, I'll buy it again and again, unless the competition comes up with something similar or smaller for a nano reef tank. I can not display the look of this marvel in my tank. For some unknown reason, Amazon will not let me upload my pic.
